The Barbara Jordan Terminal
Nearly all flights at Austin-Bergstrom use the Barbara Jordan Terminal, a single building with gates on either side of a central concourse and baggage claim on the lower level. The small South Terminal, once used by low-cost carriers, closed in 2024. The airport is in the middle of a long expansion programme that is adding gates and a new concourse, so walking routes and temporary signs change. International arrivals clear customs in the terminal's federal inspection area.

Where is the AUS pickup?

I-35 through central Austin is one of Texas's most congested stretches and is under major reconstruction, so chauffeurs often use SR-130 or US-183 instead. Toll roads in the Austin area are electronic.

SXSW, Formula 1 and festival weeks
Austin's big weeks push traffic and demand to the limit. SXSW usually runs for about ten days in March, the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix at Circuit of the Americas is usually held in October, and the Austin City Limits Music Festival fills Zilker Park over two weekends, also usually in October. Hill Country and Lake Travis trips
Many AUS arrivals head west rather than downtown. Lake Travis and Lakeway are about 40 to 55 minutes away, and the Hill Country wine region along US-290 toward Johnson City and Fredericksburg is roughly 80 to 100 minutes by road.
