Chauffeur service across Fiji: what to know

Nadi International Airport (NAN) on the west coast of Viti Levu is where almost every international visitor arrives. It is about 10 km from Denarau Island, where the big resorts and the marina are, so the transfer usually takes 15-25 minutes. Port Denarau Marina is the launch point for ferries and boat transfers to the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands. Nausori Airport (SUV) near Suva handles domestic flights and some regional routes, about 25-40 minutes from the capital.

The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits at Nadi's designated pickup area, with 60 minutes included from actual landing on international flights. Many long-haul flights land early in the morning or late at night, and the waiting clock always runs from the actual landing time. Road routes on Viti Levu

Nadi Airport also serves domestic routes to Suva, Labasa and Savusavu, and seaplane and helicopter operators fly from the airport area to the outer islands. For a resort in the Mamanuca group, the usual pattern is a short drive to Port Denarau for the boat, with the pickup timed to the scheduled sailing. Suva-bound business travellers often choose the drive over the flight when they want to stop at a Coral Coast resort on the way.

Driving realities and the Fijian year

Fiji drives on the left. Speed limits are modest, villages along the Queens Road have speed humps, and livestock and pedestrians on the verge are common after dark, so night drives take longer. Traffic in Nadi town and around Martintar and the Denarau road builds at school and shift times. The fare excludes gratuity and airport parking, which are added at their actual amount.

The drier season runs roughly May to October and is the busiest period for resorts and weddings. The wetter, warmer season from November to April includes the cyclone season, when storms can close roads and suspend island ferries. The Bula Festival in Nadi is usually held in July, the Hibiscus Festival in Suva is usually held in August, and Fiji Day on 10 October is a national holiday. Diwali is widely celebrated in October or November.
