Chauffeur service across Turkey: which airport and how pickup works

Istanbul has two international airports. Istanbul Airport (IST), on the European side near the Black Sea coast, is about 40 km from Taksim and typically 45 to 75 minutes away. Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) on the Asian side is around 45 km from Taksim, and the drive can run 50 to 90 minutes because it crosses the Bosphorus. Elsewhere, Ankara Esenboga (ESB) lies 28 km north of the capital, Antalya (AYT) is close to the city and its resort coast, and Milas-Bodrum (BJV) is about 36 km from Bodrum. Chauffeurs wait at the designated pickup areas for pre-arranged cars; a name-board greeting in arrivals is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations.

Driving realities: bridges, tunnels and the calendar

Turkey drives on the right. Istanbul's traffic is shaped by the Bosphorus: the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge in the north and the Eurasia Tunnel under the strait are the main road crossings, and all of them slow at rush hour. A chauffeur's route choice between them often matters more than distance. Hilly, narrow streets in Beyoglu and the historic peninsula also limit where larger vehicles can stop.

Istanbul hosts its international film festival in April, when the city's tulip displays also bloom in the parks, and a jazz festival in summer. The Mediterranean and Aegean resorts are busiest from June to September, when Bodrum and Antalya traffic peaks around changeover days. Bodrum and Gocek draw yacht charter guests every summer, and marina pickups work best when the booking names the marina, the berth or the yacht and the captain's contact, since security gates control vehicle entry. In Istanbul, historic-peninsula hotels around Sultanahmet sit on steep, narrow streets, so the chauffeur may stop at the nearest accessible corner. Cappadocia trips usually start with a domestic flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir and a car from there to the cave hotels of Goreme and Uchisar.
