Incheon International Airport (ICN) handles most long-haul traffic through Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which serve different airlines and are linked by a free shuttle, so check your terminal before landing. The drive to central Seoul is roughly 50-60 km and usually 60-90 minutes, longer at evening peak. Gimpo (GMP), inside the city's western edge, handles domestic flights and short-haul services to Japan and China, about 30-50 minutes from Gangnam or Jongno. Intercity routes by car

Trips inside the capital region are often slower than the distances suggest. Crossing the Han River bridges between Gangnam and Gangbuk at 8 am or 6 pm can take as long as the airport run itself, so leave extra time for meetings on the other side of the river. In Busan, a practical pattern is to arrive by KTX at Busan Station and continue by car to Haeundae or the Centum City business district, usually 30-45 minutes away. Jeju is a separate island reached by a one-hour flight from Gimpo.

The KTX high-speed train reaches Busan in under three hours, so many business travellers take the rail leg and book a car at each station. The long drive still makes sense for families, heavy luggage or door-to-door privacy.

Driving realities and seasons

South Korea drives on the right. Expressways are tolled, with electronic Hi-pass lanes at most plazas, and Seoul's inner roads such as the Olympic-daero and Gangbyeon expressways jam at rush hour. Bus-only median lanes on major avenues restrict where cars can stop, so the chauffeur will pick a legal kerb nearby.

Spring cherry blossoms peak in early April, and autumn foliage in late October and early November draws heavy weekend traffic toward Seorak-san and Naejang-san. The summer monsoon (jangma) usually arrives in late June and runs into July. Seollal (January or February) and Chuseok (September or October) create the heaviest road traffic of the year as families travel home. The Busan International Film Festival is usually held in October in Haeundae.
