Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?
Incheon has two passenger terminals about 15 kilometres apart by road, and landing at the wrong one can cost half an hour. Terminal 2 serves Korean Air and most SkyTeam partners, and it grew again with the latest expansion phase. Terminal 1 handles Asiana and its partners, many foreign airlines and a number of low-cost carriers. A free shuttle bus links the two, and the AREX train stops at both.

Where is the pickup point at Incheon?
Curbside pickup at the zone Incheon designates for pre-arranged and private vehicles is the standard service. The arrivals hall is on the first floor of each terminal, and the pickup lanes run outside it. After customs, message the chauffeur, who will send the gate number and lane. The chauffeur waits at the car, not inside the hall, unless you add meet and greet with a name board at the arrivals exit. Add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Entry, customs and how long it takes
Korea's immigration checks at Incheon are generally quick, and many visitors land visa-free, but entry rules differ by passport. Some nationalities need a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) or a visa, and exemptions have changed several times, so check the K-ETA site before you travel. Registered travellers and Korean residents can use the automated gates. For most arrivals, plan on 30 to 60 minutes from touchdown to the car. The 60 free minutes start at the actual landing, and waiting after that is charged in 15-minute blocks.
How far is Incheon from Seoul?
The airport sits on Yeongjong Island, west of the city, about 50 to 70 kilometres from the main business districts. Traffic crosses to the mainland on the Yeongjong Bridge or the Incheon Bridge. Korea drives on the right.
- Jongno, Gwanghwamun and Myeong-dong: 60 to 80 minutes
- Yeouido financial district: 50 to 70 minutes
- Gangnam, Samseong (COEX) and Jamsil: 70 to 100 minutes
- Yongsan and Itaewon: 60 to 85 minutes
- Songdo International Business District: 25 to 40 minutes
- Pangyo Techno Valley: 75 to 100 minutes
Should I take AREX instead?
The AREX express train runs non-stop from both terminals to Seoul Station, taking around 43 minutes from Terminal 1 and a little longer from Terminal 2, and the all-stop commuter train continues via Gimpo. It is a good choice for a light traveller staying near Seoul Station. For Gangnam, Jamsil or Pangyo, where you would need one or two more metro changes with luggage, a car is usually faster door to door and much easier with children.

Songdo, conferences and trade shows
Songdo, just across the Incheon Bridge, hosts international organisations and convention events, and COEX in Samseong-dong and KINTEX in Goyang host many of Seoul's largest trade fairs. For exhibitors and delegates, event transportation and group transportation programmes are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing, with staggered pickups timed to each flight.
Corporate and crew travel through ICN
Incheon is a base for two large Korean airlines and a connecting hub for North America and Southeast Asia, so airline crew transportation and corporate travel make up much of the work. Corporate accounts receive monthly invoicing, cost centres and duty-of-care trip data through corporate accounts.
Gimpo or Incheon?
Seoul's second airport, Gimpo, is much closer to the city and handles domestic routes and a few short international flights to Tokyo Haneda, Osaka, Shanghai Hongqiao and Taipei Songshan. If you are connecting from an Incheon international arrival to a Gimpo domestic flight, allow at least 45 to 70 minutes by car between the two.
Late-night and early-morning arrivals
Many flights from North America and Europe land at Incheon in the late afternoon or early evening, but a large bank of Southeast Asian arrivals comes in after midnight and before dawn. The AREX express does not run through the night, and the airport limousine buses thin out, so a pre-booked car is the most dependable way to reach a Seoul hotel at 1 a.m. Roads are clear at that hour, and the drive to Jongno or Gangnam is often 50 to 65 minutes. For a 6 a.m. departure, book the pickup from your hotel so you arrive two to three hours before the flight; the Incheon Airport Expressway can slow near the toll plaza when the morning rush builds.
Day trips and onward journeys from ICN
Some travellers go straight from the airport to a meeting in Suwon, Pangyo or Cheonan, or to a resort in Gangwon Province. These longer intercity transfers are booked the same way, at a fixed fare for the full route. A tour of the Demilitarized Zone is only possible on an authorised tour with advance registration, so we do not sell it as a chauffeur day trip; instead, a car can take you to the official departure point.
