Trains and lines at Seoul Station
- Korail KTX on the Gyeongbu line to Daejeon, Dongdaegu and Busan, the fastest taking about 2 h 20 to Busan, plus KTX services to Pohang, Masan and Jinju.
- KTX to Gangneung on the Gyeonggang line, via Pyeongchang.
- ITX and Mugunghwa conventional trains.

East side, west side and the AREX building
The modern station building, opened in 2004, stands beside the old domed station of 1925, now a cultural space. The east side faces Seoul Square, Namdaemun and the road towards City Hall; the west side faces Seobu and the Mallijae area. The AREX station is in its own building on the west, linked underground. Taxi stands and pick-up points for pre-booked cars are on both sides, and there are car parks attached to the station. How the chauffeur meets you
On a Seoul Station booking, curbside at the designated pick-up area is the standard service. The chauffeur does not come to the platform by default. Hotels and business districts
Seoul Station is at the northern edge of Yongsan district, close to the old city centre. The Lotte Hotel and the Westin Josun near City Hall, and the Four Seasons at Gwanghwamun, are within 15 minutes; The Shilla on the slopes of Namsan is about 15. Corporate headquarters and ministries are concentrated around Gwanghwamun and Jongno, finance in Yeouido, and technology and retail in Gangnam and around COEX, where many trade shows take place. Seoul drives on the right. Traffic across the Han River bridges is heaviest in the weekday peaks.
Intercity alternatives by car
A car suits trips the railway serves indirectly or not at all. The DMZ area at Imjingak and Paju is about an hour north, Suwon's Hwaseong Fortress about an hour south, and Everland about an hour. Incheon's Songdo business district is about an hour, Chuncheon about 1 h 30, and Pyeongchang about 2 h 30. Gangneung on the east coast is about 2 h 30 to 3 hours by road. Expressways are tolled, and the Lunar New Year (Seollal) and Chuseok holidays bring extreme traffic out of the capital.
