Oakland and San Jose airports
Two more commercial airports serve the region:

- San Jose Mineta International (SJC) is the natural airport for Cupertino, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale and much of Silicon Valley. San Francisco is about 45 miles north, 50 to 90 minutes. See San Jose.

The James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27 sits on the Embarcadero below Telegraph Hill. From SFO it is about 16 miles, usually 25 to 50 minutes; from Union Square, 10 to 20 minutes. Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and Pacific coast itineraries call here, with the busiest season from spring to autumn. Rail and transit connections
San Francisco has no Amtrak station inside the city; Amtrak passengers use Emeryville in the East Bay, with connecting buses into San Francisco, or Oakland Jack London Square and San Jose Diridon. Caltrain's electrified commuter trains run from 4th and King Streets in SoMa down the Peninsula to San Jose. BART runs under Market Street and serves SFO and Oakland airport. If you arrive by rail at Emeryville or San Jose Diridon, give us the train number and we time the pickup to the arrival.
Moscone Center and the event calendar

Driving in San Francisco
Traffic drives on the right. Hills are steep, cable cars have right of way on their lines, and many streets downtown are one way. The Golden Gate Bridge charges its toll electronically in the southbound direction only; the Golden Gate Bridge district and the regional FasTrak system have current details. Fog can close in quickly on the bridges and along the coast, and the Bay Bridge westbound is slow from about 6 to 10 am. Parking is scarce downtown, so chauffeurs often circle while you finish a meeting.
