What the San Jose fare covers, and what it does not
The price is built for the route, the time of day and the vehicle, and it does not move once you have accepted it. Traffic on US-101 at 5:30 pm does not change it, and neither does a delayed flight. Included waiting is generous where it matters: 60 minutes from actual landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights and 15 minutes on hotel, office and home pickups. San Jose Mineta (SJC): terminals and where the chauffeur meets you
San Jose Mineta International Airport sits about 2 miles north of downtown, which makes it one of the closest major airports to a city centre in the United States. It has two terminals, A and B, linked by a walkway, and international arrivals clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection in Terminal A. The airport requires limousine service to be pre-arranged, which is exactly how we operate.
Pickup is at the airport's designated pre-arranged area. According to the airport's published limousine guidance, that means the first floor of the Terminal A garage (Hourly Lot 2) outside baggage claim for Terminal A, a signed stop on the south-east side of the same garage for international arrivals, and Hourly Lot 5 outside baggage claim for Terminal B. Curbside pickup in that area is the standard service. A chauffeur waiting inside with a name board is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations; you can request it at booking. Drive times from SJC are short on a normal day: 8 to 15 minutes to downtown hotels, 10 to 20 minutes to Santa Clara and Levi's Stadium, 15 to 30 minutes to Sunnyvale or Cupertino, and 25 to 45 minutes to Palo Alto and Menlo Park.
Flying into SFO or Oakland instead
Many long-haul travellers to Silicon Valley land at San Francisco International, which has far more international service. SFO to downtown San Jose is roughly 35 miles and usually takes 40 to 75 minutes on US-101, longer on a weekday evening. Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport is a similar distance via I-880 and takes 40 to 70 minutes. Both airports have their own pre-arranged pickup rules; see SFO and Oakland. San Jose is the largest city in Northern California by population, but most visitors only see a few parts of it and a string of neighbouring cities. A quick orientation for booking:
- Downtown San Jose. The McEnery Convention Center, the SAP Center (home of the NHL's Sharks), San Pedro Square and hotels such as Signia by Hilton San Jose, Hotel De Anza and The Westin San Jose.
- North San Jose. The office corridor along North First Street and Tasman Drive, a few minutes from SJC.
- Santana Row and Valley Fair. Shopping, restaurants and Hotel Valencia on the west side of the city, about 15 minutes from the airport.
- Willow Glen, Rose Garden and Almaden. Residential neighbourhoods where many home pickups start.
- Santa Clara. Levi's Stadium, the Santa Clara Convention Center and a dense cluster of technology campuses.
- Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Cupertino. Campus country, 15 to 30 minutes from downtown San Jose.

Venues and the San Jose events calendar
A few dates reliably shape demand, so book early around them:
- March: Large technology conferences at the McEnery Convention Center, including a major AI developer conference that usually runs in March.
- Spring and summer: San Jose Earthquakes matches at PayPal Park, and concerts at the SAP Center year round.
- August: San Jose Jazz Summer Fest downtown, usually in August.
- September to January: NFL home games at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, where post-game traffic on Tasman Drive and Great America Parkway can hold cars for 30 to 60 minutes.
- October to April: Sharks home games at the SAP Center, a short walk from Diridon Station.
- December: Christmas in the Park at Plaza de César Chávez.

Rail connections: Diridon Station, Caltrain and BART
San Jose Diridon Station, on the west edge of downtown, is the valley's rail hub. Caltrain runs north along the Peninsula to San Francisco, with an electrified fleet in service since 2024. Amtrak's Capitol Corridor runs to Oakland and Sacramento, the Coast Starlight stops on its Los Angeles to Seattle route, and ACE trains connect to Stockton. BART reaches the city at Berryessa/North San José station, with an extension to Downtown and Diridon under construction. A chauffeur is useful at both ends of a rail trip: collection at Diridon's passenger drop-off area, or a car waiting at Millbrae or Berryessa for a traveller coming from the other side of the bay. Driving in Santa Clara County: what slows a car down
Traffic drives on the right. The main arteries are US-101, I-280, I-880, SR-87, SR-85 and SR-237, and all of them load up on weekday mornings northbound and evenings southbound. Express lanes on several of these roads charge a variable toll collected electronically through FasTrak; the operators are listed by Caltrans. Highway 17 to Santa Cruz is narrow and winding, and it is often slow on summer weekends. Stadium nights in Santa Clara and big downtown conventions add their own congestion, which is why the booking asks for the event name if there is one.
Arriving from abroad
International flights into SJC and SFO clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the airport of arrival. Travellers need a valid passport and either a U.S. visa or an approved ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program, depending on nationality. Customs and immigration timing varies widely, so the 60 minutes of included waiting on international arrivals starts from actual landing, not from when you reach the curb.
