Paris has two airports. Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is about 25 km north-east of the centre and has three terminal areas: Terminal 1, the seven halls of Terminal 2 (2A to 2G) and Terminal 3. Autoroutes, emission rules and the year's big dates

France drives on the right. Most autoroutes charge tolls. The speed limit on the Paris Boulevard Périphérique has been 50 km/h since October 2024. Paris, Lyon and several other cities have used Crit'Air stickers to control access to low-emission zones, and these rules have been under political review, so check their current status before you rely on them. From 1 November to 31 March, winter tyres or chains are required in mountain areas, including the roads up to the Alpine resorts. On summer weekends the A8 along the Riviera and the single road into Saint-Tropez can back up for hours.

Paris hosts its fashion weeks in January, around March, around June and from late September. MIPIM and MIPCOM bring the property and television industries to Cannes in March and October. The Cannes Film Festival is in May, the Monaco Grand Prix is in late May or early June, and Roland-Garros runs from late May into June.
