The cruise terminal at Pointe de Floride
Cruise ships berth at the Pointe de Floride, about 2 to 2.5 km from the city centre and the railway station. The terminal handles both turnaround calls, where passengers begin or end a voyage, and port-of-call visits. When a ship arrives from outside the Schengen area, for example from Southampton or Dover, passengers pass border control in the terminal, and turnaround days are busiest between about 7:00 and 10:00 as ships clear.
Standard pickup is at the terminal's designated pickup area for pre-booked vehicles, next to the taxi rank and shuttle stops. The chauffeur monitors the ship's arrival and messages the vehicle details and position. An inside meet and greet with a name board is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations. D-Day beaches and Normandy tours from the ship
A port day or a post-cruise stay in Normandy suits a chauffeured tour. The Normandy American Cemetery above Omaha Beach at Colleville-sur-Mer is about 130 km away, usually 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours, and a full day typically adds Pointe du Hoc, Arromanches and the Mulberry harbour remains, and the museums at Bayeux or Caen. Closer to the port, Honfleur's old harbour, the cliffs and arch at Etretat and the resort of Deauville make an easy half day. Monet's garden at Giverny is about 1 hour 45 minutes away and can be combined with a transfer to Paris. Rail: Le Havre station to Paris Saint-Lazare
Direct trains run from Le Havre station to Paris Saint-Lazare in about 2 hours 10 minutes. With cruise luggage and a group, a door-to-door car avoids the station transfer at each end. The chauffeur can also collect you at Le Havre station if you arrive by train before embarkation.
The city itself: Perret's rebuilt centre
Le Havre's centre was destroyed in 1944 and rebuilt by the architect Auguste Perret; the reconstructed city is listed by UNESCO. Landmarks include the Saint-Joseph church tower, the Hotel de Ville, the MuMa art museum by the harbour entrance and the Volcan cultural centre by Oscar Niemeyer. Le Havre is one of France's largest container ports, with the Port 2000 terminals west of the Pont de Normandie approaches. Shipping companies, logistics firms and port services send staff and crews through the city. Crew moves between the port gates and Paris airports are timed to vessel ETAs and planned by a coordinator. Events and seasons
- Cruise season is busiest from April to October, with the heaviest turnaround weekends in summer.

Driving in Normandy: tolls, bridges and speed
France drives on the right. The Pont de Normandie over the Seine estuary is a toll bridge, and the A13 to Paris is a toll autoroute. Autoroute limits are 130 km/h in dry conditions and 110 km/h in rain. Paris has a low-emission zone and its own traffic peaks, which is why the table gives ranges.
Vehicles for cruise luggage
Cruise passengers usually carry more than air travellers. An executive SUV takes two or three people with large cases, and a Standard Black SUV or Sprinter Van suits families or friends travelling together. A Standard Sedan works for two with moderate luggage. Cars are four model years old or newer; Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley are the only makes accepted up to seven years. Border and entry notes for cruise passengers
France applies Schengen border controls at Le Havre for ships arriving from outside the area. Since April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational, so non-EU passengers register fingerprints and a facial image at their first Schengen entry, which can slow the first disembarkation. ETIAS, the pre-travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, is not in operation as of September 2026; the EU will announce the start date in advance on its travel website.
