Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos is the main gateway, a single terminal building with a satellite for some gates, about 33 km east of Syntagma Square. Mainland distances are moderate, and the toll motorways from Athens are fast outside summer weekends.

Greece drives on the right. The Attiki Odos ring road that links Athens airport with the city is a toll road, as are the main national motorways toward Corinth and the north. On Mykonos and Santorini, the roads are narrow and the harbour approaches jam when several cruise ships call at once, so tender-day pickups need extra time.
