How do I book a black car to the Hamptons?

Open the reservation engine on this page or book. Enter the pickup (a terminal, a Manhattan address, an FBO), the house or hotel address in the Hamptons, the date, time, passengers and bags, and choose a vehicle. The engine shows a fixed fare for that route. On a summer Friday the drive can take twice as long as on a Tuesday; the price you accepted does not move. The Hamptons have no big airport: which gateway is best?

The East End of Long Island is served by several airports, and the right one depends on how you fly.

Times assume normal conditions. A summer Friday afternoon heading east, or a Sunday evening heading west, can add an hour or more. Montauk sits roughly 30 miles further east of Southampton; add 40 to 60 minutes.

How pickup works at JFK, LaGuardia and MacArthur

Curbside pickup at each airport's designated area for pre-arranged cars is standard. JFK is being rebuilt by the Port Authority, and pickup points shift with construction, so your confirmation gives the exact spot for your terminal. LaGuardia's Terminals A, B and C each have signed pre-arranged pickup zones. A name-board meet and greet in the arrivals hall is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations.

Every airline arrival is flight-tracked. Included waiting is 60 minutes from landing on international flights and 30 minutes on domestic flights, then 15-minute blocks, which is useful when a JFK customs hall is busy.

Private aviation: East Hampton, Gabreski, Teterboro and Westchester

Private flyers heading east have more choices than airline passengers. East Hampton Town Airport in Wainscott is the closest field to the estate areas and handles most summer jet and helicopter traffic. The Town of East Hampton has fought for years over noise and access at the airport, and in 2026 it announced plans to move towards a prior-permission model, so check current rules with your operator before you file. Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach is an alternative with a longer runway and less controversy, and Montauk Airport serves smaller aircraft at the far eastern tip.

Travellers flying in from further away sometimes land at Teterboro or Westchester and drive out, especially if they have a meeting in Manhattan first. Manhattan to the Hamptons: routes and timing

There are two main routes east. The Long Island Expressway (I-495) runs to its end at Riverhead, and most drivers leave at Exit 70 for Sunrise Highway (NY-27), which becomes Montauk Highway through the villages. Local chauffeurs sometimes use the Northern State Parkway or the Southern State Parkway to avoid LIE backups, depending on the day. Once past the Shinnecock Canal, NY-27 is a single lane in each direction through much of Southampton, Water Mill and Bridgehampton, and the summer eastbound crawl locals call the "trade parade" forms on weekday mornings as work crews head out.

Leaving before noon on a Friday, or on Thursday evening, saves a great deal of time. Your fare is fixed regardless. Routes out of Manhattan use a tolled crossing such as the Queens-Midtown Tunnel or the RFK Bridge.

Which vehicle suits a Hamptons weekend?

See the fleet for all nine classes. Every affiliate vehicle is four model years old or younger; Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley are accepted up to seven.

What is included in the fare?

The fare is fixed for your route and covers flight tracking on airport pickups, included waiting (60 minutes on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights, 15 minutes elsewhere, then 15-minute blocks) and child seats on request at no charge. Airport access charges at JFK, LaGuardia or MacArthur and gratuity are charged at actual cost and added to the booking. The fare does not change with the Friday traffic. The villages, east to west

"The Hamptons" covers the South Fork towns of Southampton and East Hampton, from roughly Westhampton to Montauk.

• Westhampton Beach and Quogue: the western end, closest to the city, with Dune Road's beaches.
• Southampton Village: Job's Lane and Main Street, the Parrish Art Museum's former home, Cooper's Beach and the Shinnecock Hills and National golf courses nearby.
• Water Mill, Bridgehampton and Sagaponack: estates, farm stands, the Hampton Classic showgrounds and the current Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill.
• Sag Harbor: a whaling-era harbour town on the bay side with the American Hotel and Baron's Cove.
• East Hampton and Amagansett: Main Beach, Guild Hall and the Maidstone area.
• Montauk: surf beaches, the lighthouse at Montauk Point and resorts such as Gurney's and the Montauk Yacht Club.
• Shelter Island: reached by short car ferries from North Haven (near Sag Harbor) and from Greenport on the North Fork.

When does the Hamptons season run?

• Memorial Day weekend (late May): the unofficial start of summer; traffic east jumps.
• June: Shinnecock Hills has hosted the US Open, most recently in June 2026.
• July and August: peak weekends, benefit galas and beach club events.
• Late August into early September: the Hampton Classic Horse Show in Bridgehampton, usually ending on Labor Day weekend.
• Labor Day to October: quieter weekends and the Hamptons International Film Festival in early autumn.

Winter is quiet, and many restaurants reduce hours. Check event dates with the organisers or the Town of East Hampton and Town of Southampton sites.

Rail, coach and ferry options

The Long Island Rail Road's Montauk Branch serves Westhampton, Southampton, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, Amagansett and Montauk, with a direct train from New York Penn Station and some summer expresses; schedules are on the MTA. Coach services also run from Manhattan to the villages. The Cross Sound Ferry from New London, Connecticut, lands at Orient Point on the North Fork, useful for travellers from New England.

Coordinating house guests and staff

A summer house often has guests arriving from three airports on the same Friday. Book each arrival separately with its own flight number so every pickup is tracked, or ask a coordinator to plan the weekend as one programme with a single confirmation. Staff, caterers and security teams can be moved on their own schedule in a van or Sprinter. Send gate codes, the name on the driveway sign and any instructions about where to wait, and the chauffeur will follow them.

Local driving realities

The East End drives on the right, on roads designed for farms and villages. Parking in the village centres is tight in summer, and many beaches restrict parking to permit holders, so chauffeurs drop off and wait nearby or return at a set time. Deer on the roads at dusk are a real hazard. Estates often have long private drives, gates and codes; send them with the booking. Mobile coverage can be patchy in parts of Sagaponack and Montauk, so agree a pickup point in advance.

From the Hamptons to Connecticut, the islands and the city

Guests going on to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard usually fly from East Hampton or drive via the ferry at Orient Point. Cruise passengers can be driven to the Manhattan cruise terminal.

International guests

Most overseas visitors land at JFK, clear US customs there and drive out. The 60-minute included wait starts at the actual landing. Visa and entry rules are set by US Customs and Border Protection.
