Saint Lucia has two airports at opposite ends of the island, and the choice between them changes your journey time more than anything else. Hewanorra International (UVF), at Vieux Fort on the southern tip, takes the long-haul jets from North America and Europe. George F. L. Both airports and the seaports are run by the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority.

Standard pickup is at the airport's designated area for pre-booked cars, outside arrivals. A name-board greeting in the hall is an add-on, available in selected locations. Your flight is tracked, so an early or late landing moves the pickup with it, and an hour of waiting after touchdown comes with every international arrival. The road from Hewanorra north runs up the windward east coast through Micoud and Dennery. The west-coast road from Castries to Soufrière is shorter on the map but slower because of its tight bends.

In December, the transatlantic sailing rally finishes at Rodney Bay Marina, and every Friday night the street party in Gros Islet draws visitors from the northern resorts. In the north, the resorts are around Rodney Bay, Reduit Beach, Cap Estate and Pigeon Island National Landmark. Castries has the cruise berths at Pointe Seraphine and La Place Carenage. In the south-west, the Sulphur Springs, the botanical gardens and the Pitons Management Area, a UNESCO World Heritage site, surround Soufrière. Some visitors split their stay between a northern resort and a property near Soufrière, which means one long cross-island transfer in the middle of the holiday.
