Brussels Airport (BRU) at Zaventem is about 12 km north-east of the city, and the transfer to the European Quarter or the Upper Town usually takes 20-40 minutes, longer on the Ring at peak. Brussels South Charleroi (CRL), used mainly by low-cost airlines, is roughly 55 km south, so budget 50-75 minutes to central Brussels. Liège (LGG), Antwerp (ANR) and Ostend (OST) handle smaller volumes. Many visitors also arrive by Eurostar or TGV at Brussels-South (Bruxelles-Midi).

Every flight is tracked, and the chauffeur waits at the airport's designated pickup area, with 60 minutes included from the actual landing on international flights. Intercity distances by road

Belgium is small enough that most intercity trips are day returns. A chauffeur often beats the train when a traveller needs several stops, for example a morning at an Antwerp port office, lunch in Ghent and an evening flight from Zaventem. For Paris and Amsterdam, high-speed trains from Brussels-South are quick, but a car helps with groups, heavy luggage or destinations away from the main stations, such as corporate campuses outside Paris. Driving realities, zones and the Belgian year

Belgium drives on the right, and priority to the right still applies at many unmarked junctions. The Brussels Ring (R0) and the E40 and E19 approaches are among the most congested roads in Europe at peak hours. Brussels, Antwerp and Ghent operate low-emission zones that apply to foreign-registered vehicles too. Motorways carry no general car toll, although Antwerp's Liefkenshoek Tunnel is tolled. Any congestion or low-emission zone charge on a trip is added at the actual amount, as are parking and gratuity.

European Council summits and large EU meetings bring security perimeters and road closures around Schuman and the Rond-Point several times a year. The Flower Carpet covers the Grand-Place in mid-August in even-numbered years. Tomorrowland in Boom is usually held across two weekends in July, and the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps usually runs in summer. Winter Wonders, the Brussels Christmas market, runs from late November into early January.
