BlaakLane.com supplies a professional chauffeur to drive your own vehicle for $95 CAD an hour, all-in with taxes and a 20% gratuity, with a 4-hour minimum within the city. Monthly blocks start at $3,800 for 40 hours and reach $20,900 for 220 hours. Out of town, hours are billed at $142.50, plus the chauffeur's hotel and a flat $100 travel allowance.
Who hires a chauffeur for their own car?
More people than you might think, and for very practical reasons.
- Owners of a car they love to be driven in. A Range Rover, a G-Wagen, a Bentley or a collector car that you would rather enjoy from the back seat than park yourself.
- Households with a family car and too many school runs. One chauffeur who drives the household vehicle for the morning and afternoon routine, the activities and the grocery stop.
- Executives whose company provides the car. The lease and the insurance are already in place; what is missing is someone trained to drive it.
- An evening out. You drive to dinner, the event or the club, and our chauffeur brings you and your car home at the end of the night.
- Older parents who still want to use their own car for appointments, visits and errands, with someone they trust at the wheel.
- Travel days. Your chauffeur drives you to Toronto Pearson in your car, takes it home and collects you on your return, so the car never sits in long-term parking.
Prices for a chauffeur in your car
| All-in, CAD | Within the city | Out of town (+50%) |
|---|---|---|
| Per hour | $95 (4-hour minimum) | $142.50 |
| 4-hour minimum booking | $380 | $570 |
| 10-hour day | $950 | $1,425 |
| 40-hour monthly block | $3,800 | out-of-town hours at $142.50 |
| 220-hour monthly block | $20,900 | out-of-town hours at $142.50 |
Every price includes taxes and a 20% gratuity. Because the car is yours, there is no kilometre charge: fuel, tolls, parking and any car wash stay with you, paid as you normally would or added to the invoice at actual cost if the chauffeur pays on your behalf. Overtime is fine and billed at the same hourly rate. When the work leaves the city, the chauffeur's hotel and a flat $100 travel allowance are added, exactly as they are when the chauffeur drives one of our cars.
The monthly blocks work the same way as our monthly chauffeur service: 40, 80, 120 or 220 hours reserved for you, with a named chauffeur and a trained backup, and no rollover of unused hours.
| Hours each month | 40 | 80 | 120 | 220 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chauffeur only, all-in CAD | $3,800 | $7,600 | $11,400 | $20,900 |
Insurance, licensing and your car
The question every owner asks first is about insurance. In Canada, auto insurance generally follows the vehicle, so the policy that covers your car is normally the policy that responds when someone you have authorised is driving it. Policies differ, so before the first booking we ask you to confirm with your broker or insurer that a professional chauffeur driving with your consent is covered, and to tell them how often it will happen. The Insurance Bureau of Canada has plain-language guidance on how auto coverage works in each province.
For the insurer and for your own peace of mind, we provide the chauffeur's name, driver's licence class, driving abstract summary and background-check date before the first trip. Our chauffeurs are licensed and trained to drive within the Ontario Highway Traffic Act in our home market and the local equivalent elsewhere; the rest of our standard is on the safety page.
How each booking works
- The handover. The chauffeur arrives on foot or by transit, checks the car with you, and photographs the exterior, the mileage and the fuel level. You keep a copy.
- The drive. The chauffeur drives your route and your preferences, from seat position and climate to the radio station you never change.
- The return. The car is parked where you want it, keys are handed back or left in the agreed place, and a second set of photos closes the booking.
If you want to keep a car with you at the end of the night but also travel with guests, we can send one chauffeur to drive your car and a second chauffeur in one of our business sedans or SUVs for the guests.
What our chauffeurs will and will not do with your car
They will drive it carefully, keep it tidy, refuel it if you ask, and tell you if a warning light comes on. They will not take it anywhere you have not asked, smoke in it, carry anyone you have not approved, or use it outside the booking. They will also refuse to drive a vehicle that is unsafe: a bald tyre, a recall left open or brakes that do not feel right are reported to you before the car moves. If you are not sure whether your vehicle has an open recall, Transport Canada publishes the national recall framework.
Getting your car ready for a chauffeur
Before the first booking, a short checklist saves time on the day:
- Insurance confirmed. A note from your broker or insurer that an authorised professional driver is covered.
- Ownership and registration in the car, with the insurance slip, as provincial law requires.
- Keys and access. Where the spare key lives, how the garage door opens, the gate code, and which parking spot is yours at the condo.
- Preferences. Seat and mirror positions for you as a passenger, climate, music or silence, and whether the chauffeur may adjust anything.
- Fuel or charge. Whether the chauffeur should refuel or charge the car and how you want it paid.
Electric, hybrid and collector cars
Our chauffeurs drive electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles every day, from the Cadillac Lyriq in our own fleet to the Teslas, Porsches and BMWs clients own, so regenerative braking, one-pedal driving and charging etiquette are routine. If a long day needs a top-up, the time at a charger is simply part of the booking, and the chauffeur plans it around your meetings rather than in the middle of them. For collector and classic cars, tell us the make, the year and whether it has a manual gearbox; we assign a chauffeur with experience of that kind of car, agree the route in advance and avoid long idling and stop-start traffic where we can.
Two cars, one evening
A common request is to arrive in your own car and leave with guests. One chauffeur drives your car to the venue and home again; a second chauffeur in one of our business sedans or SUVs takes the guests to their hotels. Both are booked on one confirmation and billed on one invoice, the first at $95 an hour and the second at the rate for the class you choose, each with the 4-hour minimum where it applies.
Is it cheaper than a full chauffeur service?
Yes, by a clear margin. A ten-hour day with our chauffeur in your car is $950, compared with $1,550 in our business sedan, and a 220-hour month is $20,900 against $34,100. The difference reflects the car, its insurance and its upkeep, which in this arrangement are yours. If you have no car, or yours is in the shop, the private chauffeur page explains the options with our vehicles.
Where it is available
Chauffeur-only service is offered across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, Markham, Vaughan and Oakville, and in other network cities where a vetted operator can supply a chauffeur without a vehicle. The desk confirms availability for each city before the first booking. The National Limousine Association is a good source if you want to compare what professional chauffeur standards look like elsewhere.
Cancellations
More than 72 hours before the booking, no charge; 72 hours or less, 10%; 48 hours or less, 50%; 24 hours or less, or a no-show, 100% of the reserved hours.
