Chauffeur service across Latvia: what to know

Riga International Airport (RIX) is Latvia's only major airport and the busiest in the Baltic states. It is about 10 km south-west of the Old Town, and the drive into central Riga usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, or a little longer when traffic backs up at the bridges over the Daugava. Latvia is in the Schengen area. Flights from other Schengen countries arrive without passport control, while non-EU travellers from elsewhere go through the EU Entry/Exit System at their first Schengen airport. The Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs publishes visa and residence rules.

When you book, the reservation engine shows a fixed fare for your address, date, time and vehicle. On the day, a vetted local affiliate drives the trip, and the confirmation names both the operator and the chauffeur. As standard, Latvian pickups happen in the airport zone reserved for pre-booked cars. Meeting in the arrivals hall with a name board is an add-on, available in selected locations. Day trips and Baltic capitals by road

Because the three Baltic capitals are all within a morning's drive of each other, many travellers link them by road instead of flying. Book one-way intercity transfers, or keep a chauffeur with hourly booking for a three-capital week.

Winter roads, Old Town access and the festival year

Latvia drives on the right, and dipped headlights are required at all times. Winter tyres are compulsory from 1 December to 1 March, and snow and black ice are common on the Vidzeme roads towards Sigulda and Cēsis. In midwinter the sun sets before 16:00. Vehicle access to Old Riga is controlled, so drop-offs at hotels inside the medieval streets can mean a short walk over cobblestones. The resort town of Jūrmala charges an entry fee for cars during the warmer months.

The Līgo and Jāņi midsummer holidays on 23 and 24 June empty the city as residents head to the countryside. The Riga City Festival takes place in August, and Independence Day, 18 November, is marked with fireworks over the river. The Christmas market fills Dome Square from late November. Choosing among the nine classes

A Standard Sedan (2 passengers, 2 bags) is usually enough for a solo business trip from RIX to the Skanste business district. The Luxury Executive Sedan suits a board visit or a ministry meeting. Families with winter luggage, or anyone going to the Gauja valley in snow, will be more comfortable in a Standard Black SUV (6 passengers, 6 bags). Cruise passengers touring Riga and Jūrmala as a group of up to 12 can share a Sprinter Van, and a Party Bus takes 14 for a stag weekend. The fleet page lists all classes.
