Driving in Santiago: tolls, restrictions and the Andes
Cars drive on the right. The free-flow toll motorways need an electronic TAG, which every affiliate vehicle carries, and charges vary by time of day. In autumn and winter, roughly May to August, poor air quality can trigger vehicle restrictions based on licence plates, and alerts change which cars may circulate on a given day; the operator plans around them so your trip is unaffected.
