Driving realities and the Mauritian calendar

Mauritius drives on the left. The M1 and M2 motorways link the airport, Port Louis and the north, but traffic into Port Louis and around the Ebene business district is heavy on weekday mornings and evenings, and coastal roads through villages are narrow and slow. The central plateau around Curepipe is cooler and often misty or wet.

The cyclone season runs from about November to April, with most risk from January to March, when strong weather can disrupt flights and roads. The drier, cooler months from May to November are popular for golf and touring.
