Chauffeur service in Monaco: arriving through Nice

Monaco has no airport of its own. Travellers fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE), which has two terminals, and then cover about 30 km to Monte-Carlo, typically 30-45 minutes on the A8 motorway or longer along the coastal corniches. Drives from Monaco along the Riviera

The A8 includes a toll barrier at La Turbie. For a Riviera day with several stops, an hourly chauffeur booking, 3-hour minimum, is simpler than separate transfers.

Driving, parking and the Monaco calendar

Traffic runs on the right. The principality is only about 2 km² and very hilly, with tunnels, hairpins and one-way loops, so short distances can still take time at peak hours. Hotel forecourts in Monte-Carlo manage drop-offs well, but public car parks charge by the hour; parking and gratuity are added at the actual amount. Nice operates a low-emission zone under the French Crit'Air sticker system.

Event weeks change everything. The Monte-Carlo Rally opens the year in January, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament is played in April, and the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco usually takes place in late May or early June, when streets close for circuit building for weeks. During Grand Prix week, circuit barriers, grandstands and closed streets change access to Monte-Carlo, and some hotels run their own drop-off arrangements, so book early and share your hotel's instructions with the desk. Access to Monaco-Ville, the old town on the Rock, is restricted for non-resident vehicles, so drop-offs there are usually at the nearest public car park. Helicopter transfers land at Fontvieille, a short drive from most hotels, and child seats are free on request in most cities. For yacht guests, the chauffeur can collect at the quay in Port Hercule or Fontvieille, where harbour staff direct vehicles to the nearest permitted stopping point.
