How do you book a chauffeur service in Monaco?
Monaco has no airport of its own, so the booking usually begins elsewhere. Nice Cote d'Azur airport (NCE): the gateway to Monaco
Nice Cote d'Azur airport is France's third-busiest airport and sits on the seafront west of Nice. It has two terminals, T1 and T2, connected by a free tram link. Your confirmation names the terminal. The chauffeur waits at the designated pre-arranged pickup area at the curb, which is standard; a name-board meet and greet inside arrivals is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Road time to Monte-Carlo is usually 30 to 45 minutes on the A8 motorway, exiting at Monaco and descending through the tunnels, and 45 to 70 minutes if the A8 is congested or if you prefer the coastal Basse Corniche through Villefranche and Beaulieu. Summer weekends and Grand Prix week are much slower. Business jets use the general aviation terminal at Nice; see Nice private aviation, and for smaller jets Cannes-Mandelieu, about 70 to 90 minutes from Monaco by road.
Many visitors fly the short helicopter hop from Nice airport to the Monaco heliport at Fontvieille, which takes around seven minutes. We do not operate helicopters, but we can meet you at the heliport and take your luggage onward.
Entry: arriving in Monaco through France
Monaco is not in the EU, but there are no border controls between France and Monaco, and passport checks happen when you enter the Schengen area, which for most visitors means Nice airport. Since 10 April 2026 the EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational, so non-EU travellers on short stays register fingerprints and a facial image at their first Schengen crossing instead of receiving stamps. ETIAS, the pre-travel authorisation for visa-exempt visitors, has not started as of September 2026. The official EU travel portal publishes updates.
What the Monaco fare includes
- Included waiting of 60 minutes after actual landing for international flights, 30 minutes for domestic French flights and 15 minutes for other pickups, then 15-minute blocks.
- Free child seats on request.
Parking and pickup charges at Nice airport, and gratuity, are billed at actual cost and added to the booking rather than built into the Monaco fare. Planning ranges are on the rates page. Cancellation is free more than 72 hours ahead, 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. That rule matters in Grand Prix week, when plans change fast.
The Monaco Grand Prix: May for decades, June from 2026
For most of its history the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco ran in late May, often on the same weekend as the Indianapolis 500. From 2026 it moved to early June, and the 2026 race weekend ran from 5 to 7 June. Check the Formula 1 calendar for the next edition rather than assuming the old May slot.
What it means on the ground:
- The street circuit takes several weeks to assemble and dismantle, so roads around the harbour, Boulevard Albert Ier and the Casino square are narrowed or closed well before race weekend.
- On session days, much of the Principality is closed to general traffic, and drop-offs happen at set points outside the circuit.
- Hotels, yachts and villas along the coast from Cap d'Ail to Roquebrune fill up, so demand for cars reaches from Nice to Menton.

- April: the Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, which is actually in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin just over the French border.

Port Hercule, yachts and cruise calls
Port Hercule is the main harbour in La Condamine, home to large yachts and the cruise pier used by smaller cruise ships; larger ships anchor offshore and tender guests ashore. Fontvieille has a second, smaller marina. For a yacht pickup, give the berth or quay name and the captain's or agent's number; access to some quays is controlled, so the chauffeur meets you at the gate if the car cannot go further. Crew changes for yachts, often through Nice airport, are handled like any crew change: names, flight numbers and a single contact. The Monaco ports authority publishes harbour information.
Monaco's districts and hotels, and how roads work
Monaco covers about 2 square kilometres, climbing steeply from the sea. Its main quarters are Monte-Carlo, with the Casino, Place du Casino and the grand hotels; La Condamine around the harbour; Monaco-Ville on the Rock, with the Palace and the Cathedral; Fontvieille, reclaimed land with offices, the heliport and the stadium; and Larvotto, the beach district to the east. Much of the traffic moves through tunnels and lifts, and one-way streets are the norm.
Landmark hotels include the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo, the Hotel Hermitage, the Hotel Metropole, the Fairmont Monte Carlo on the hairpin, and the Monte-Carlo Bay. The Grimaldi Forum at Larvotto hosts conferences and exhibitions, and the Stade Louis II in Fontvieille is the football stadium. Monaco-Ville is closed to most private cars; drop-offs are made at the Place de la Visitation car park or near the Palace access, depending on the day.
Driving is on the right. Parking is tightly controlled and hotels manage forecourts; your chauffeur waits nearby and returns when called.

Saint-Tropez in July and August can take far longer because of the single road onto the peninsula. Villas and addresses just outside the Principality
Many people who say they are staying "in Monaco" are in fact in France. Cap d'Ail and Beausoleil border the Principality directly; Beausoleil climbs the hill above Monte-Carlo, and several of its streets are on the French side of a road whose other kerb is Monegasque. Further west, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Beaulieu-sur-Mer hold villas and hotels such as the Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat, 20 to 30 minutes from Monte-Carlo. To the east, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton lead to the Italian border at Ventimiglia.
Give the exact address, and a gate code or the villa manager's number if the property is on a private road. Several Cap Ferrat and Cap d'Ail estates sit on narrow lanes where a stretch limousine or large Sprinter cannot turn, so the booking engine may suggest a smaller vehicle class. The price for these addresses is fixed in the same way as for Monte-Carlo.
Planning Yacht Show week and summer peaks
The Monaco Yacht Show fills Port Hercule with superyachts for four days in late September, and exhibitors, brokers and owners move constantly between the quays, the hotels and Nice airport. Quay access is managed by the organisers, so passes and drop-off points matter more than distance. July and August bring a different pressure: the coastal roads from Nice and toward Italy carry holiday traffic, and the Monaco exits of the A8 back up in the evening.
Three habits help during these peaks:
- Book the airport legs first, with flight numbers, so the arrival and departure are fixed before anything else.
- Use an hourly booking for show days rather than calling for individual cars between meetings.
- Tell us where you actually need to be, such as a quay number or a hotel side entrance, so the chauffeur can plan a legal stopping point in advance.
