Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) is the dominant gateway, a single-terminal airport about 15 km south-west of central Amsterdam, and the drive to the Canal Ring or the Zuidas usually takes 20-40 minutes. Rotterdam The Hague Airport (RTM) serves the south of the Randstad, and Eindhoven (EIN) handles low-cost routes and the Brainport region. Road routes across the Randstad and beyond

Distances in the Randstad are short, but journey times swing widely with the rush hour on the A4, A10 and A13. A morning run from Amsterdam to The Hague can take twice as long as the same trip at midday, so executives often schedule meetings around the peak. Frequent intercity trains link the major cities, which is why chauffeured trips here tend to be about luggage, privacy and door-to-door timing rather than distance: Schiphol to a canal-house hotel, the Zuidas to a port office in Rotterdam, or a day of client visits across several towns. Driving realities and the Dutch year
