BlaakLane.com chauffeur rates are fixed fares: the reservation engine quotes one fixed price for your exact pickup, destination, date, time and vehicle class before you confirm, with no meter and no surge. The fare includes the vehicle, a professional chauffeur, included waiting time and flight tracking, while gratuity, airport fees, parking and congestion or low-emission charges are added to the booking at actual cost. Hourly bookings have a 3-hour minimum within the city, and long-distance mileage is charged separately.
How is a BlaakLane.com fixed fare built?
Chauffeur rates at BlaakLane.com are calculated for the specific trip, not taken from a meter. When you enter a trip, the reservation engine works out the fare from a small number of inputs:
- The vehicle class. A Standard Sedan costs less than a Luxury Executive Sedan, and a Sprinter Van costs less per passenger than two Standard Black SUVs. See the fleet for each of the nine classes.
- The city and its local operating costs. Labour, fuel, insurance, licensing and parking costs differ widely between, say, Toronto, Zurich and Bangkok, and the fare reflects the local market.
- The distance and expected drive time. The route is estimated for the time of day, so a rush-hour airport run is priced on a realistic duration.
- The type of service. Airport transfers, point-to-point rides, hourly bookings and intercity trips are priced differently.
- Long-distance mileage. When a trip leaves the city, the mileage beyond the city is charged separately and appears as its own line in the quote.
- The date and time. Very early morning or late-night pickups and major event dates can carry a higher fare in some cities, and that is shown in the quote before you book, not added afterwards.
- Applicable taxes. Sales tax, GST, HST or VAT is applied to the quote as local law requires.
Once confirmed, the fare does not change because traffic got worse, a storm arrived or demand spiked across the city. That is the practical meaning of a fixed fare: the risk of the journey taking longer than expected sits with us, not with the passenger.
What does the fare include?
A BlaakLane.com fare covers the following for the trip as booked:
- The vehicle class you selected, four model years old or younger (seven for Rolls-Royce, Maybach and Bentley), clean and unbranded.
- A commercially licensed, professionally dressed chauffeur.
- Flight tracking on every airport pickup, with the chauffeur timed to the actual landing.
- Included waiting time: 60 minutes from actual landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights and 15 minutes on other pickups.
- Help with luggage at pickup and drop-off.
- Support from the 24/7 Toronto desk before, during and after the trip.
Gratuity, airport access, pickup or drop-off fees, parking and congestion or low-emission zone charges are not part of the fare; each is charged at actual cost and added to the booking. Child seats are free on request in most cities. Curbside pickup at the airport's designated commercial or pre-arranged pickup area is the standard, included pickup point. Outside the Toronto home area the trip is driven by a vetted local affiliate operator held to the same fare terms, and the confirmation names the operator and the chauffeur.
Typical planning ranges in major cities
The table below gives planning ranges for budgeting a trip or a programme, for all nine classes on the reservation engine. They are not quotes: the reservation engine quotes the exact fare for your address, date, time and vehicle, and that is the only price that applies.
Typical planning ranges in major cities (USD, before local tax; the reservation engine quotes the exact fare)
| Vehicle class | Airport transfer (one way) | Hourly (per hour, 3-hour minimum) |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Sedan | $95 to $190 | $75 to $125 |
| Luxury Executive Sedan | $150 to $290 | $120 to $190 |
| Executive First Class Sedan (Maybach) | $450 to $950 | $250 to $550 |
| Standard Black SUV | $125 to $240 | $95 to $160 |
| Executive Black SUV | $150 to $280 | $110 to $180 |
| Luxury Stretch Limo | $250 to $450 | $150 to $260 |
| Sprinter Van | $190 to $380 | $130 to $220 |
| Party Bus | On request | $180 to $320 |
| Sprinter Luxury Jet Van | $300 to $600 | $180 to $320 |
How to read the ranges. The lower end of each airport range reflects a short run from an airport close to the centre in a city with moderate operating costs; the upper end reflects a long run from a distant airport in a high-cost city. Hourly ranges follow the same logic, and every hourly booking has a minimum of 3 hours within the city. The ranges are shown before local tax because sales tax, VAT and GST rates differ from country to country; the engine quote shows the applicable tax and the total you pay.
Party Bus airport transfers are arranged on request, because the vehicle is designed for lounge seating rather than luggage. Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles, armoured vehicles and coaches are not in the table: they are arranged on request through vetted partners and confirmed in writing, because the price depends on the itinerary, the driving hours and, for armoured cars, the security requirements.
How does waiting time work?
Waiting time is included in every fare, and it starts from the right moment. For airport pickups, the clock starts at the actual landing time, taken from flight tracking, not the scheduled time. The included waiting is:
| Pickup type | Included waiting | After that |
|---|---|---|
| International arrival | 60 minutes from actual landing | 15-minute blocks |
| Domestic arrival | 30 minutes from actual landing | 15-minute blocks |
| All other pickups (hotel, office, home, port, station) | 15 minutes from the booked time | 15-minute blocks |
Additional waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks at the rate for the booked vehicle class. The desk contacts the passenger or booker when included time is running out, so extra time never builds up without anyone knowing. If a flight is delayed by hours or cancelled, the chauffeur is re-timed or the trip is rebooked; you are not charged for waiting that the flight caused before landing.
Extra stops and route changes
An airport transfer or point-to-point fare covers the direct route between the addresses you booked. You can add stops when booking, and the engine adds them to the fixed fare. If you want to add a stop during the trip, such as collecting a colleague or picking up documents, the chauffeur will do so where it is safe and legal, and the desk adds the extra distance and time to the fare. For a trip with several stops or an open itinerary, an hourly booking is usually better value.
Hourly minimum and long-distance mileage
Hourly, or as-directed, bookings keep the car and chauffeur with you for a set period, going where you ask. The fare is the hourly rate for the class multiplied by the hours booked, and the minimum is 3 hours within the city, in every class from the Standard Sedan to the Party Bus. Time is counted from the booked pickup time to the drop-off, and time beyond the booked hours is added in 15-minute blocks.
Long-distance mileage is charged separately. When an hourly booking or a transfer leaves the city, for example a day of site visits in a neighbouring region or a transfer to a resort two hours away, the distance beyond the city is priced as mileage on top of the hourly or transfer fare. The engine shows the mileage in the quote before you confirm, so the total is still fixed in advance. For a full day of meetings, a roadshow or a wedding, ask about a programme price through hourly chauffeur service or a coordinator; for city-to-city trips, see intercity and long-distance transfers.
Airport fees, parking, zone charges and taxes
Airport fees of any kind are charged at actual cost and added to the booking: the commercial vehicle access or pickup fees many airports charge for pre-arranged cars, drop-off charges such as the Heathrow Terminal Drop-Off Charge and the fees at Manchester and Paris, and the access or trip fees at US airports such as JFK and DFW. Port and cruise-terminal fees are handled the same way. Parking is not included, whether at an airport, port, station or event, and neither are congestion or low-emission charges such as the London Congestion Charge and ULEZ, the Manhattan congestion relief zone charge and New York's for-hire surcharge, Milan's Area C, Rome's ZTL, Singapore's ERP or the Stockholm congestion tax: these too are charged at actual cost and added to the booking. Electronic toll highways such as Highway 407 ETR north of Toronto are common on some routes.
Costs that cannot be known at booking are added at cost with a receipt: a paid car park during an hourly booking when there is nowhere else to wait, or a fee introduced by an airport or city after you booked. Taxes follow local law: in Canada, for example, GST or HST applies to passenger transportation as set out by the Canada Revenue Agency, and VAT or sales tax applies in most other countries.
Is gratuity included?
Gratuity is not included in the fixed fare. It is charged at actual cost and added to the booking, so you do not need to carry cash at the end of the ride. If a chauffeur goes well beyond the booking, for example with heavy luggage up several flights or a long unplanned wait handled with good grace, an extra tip is welcome but entirely at your discretion. Customs around tipping vary widely between countries; for background, see the overview of gratuity.
Meet and greet and other add-ons
The standard airport pickup is curbside at the airport's designated commercial or pre-arranged pickup area. The chauffeur waits there, and the passenger messages or calls when bags are collected. Meet and greet is an add-on: the chauffeur meets the passenger inside the arrivals hall with a name board and walks them to the car. It suits first-time visitors, travellers with heavy luggage, families and VIPs. See airport meet and greet for how it works.
Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the reservation engine shows which ones apply to your pickup. Where offered, add-ons can include meet and greet, extra waiting time booked in advance, and decoration for weddings. Each add-on is priced in the quote, so you know its cost before you confirm.
What is the cancellation policy?
The cancellation policy is the same on every booking and in every city:
| When you cancel | Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 72 hours before pickup | No charge |
| 72 hours or less before pickup | 10% of the fare |
| 48 hours or less before pickup | 50% of the fare |
| 24 hours or less before pickup, or no-show | 100% of the fare |
A no-show means the passenger did not arrive at the pickup point and could not be reached by the chauffeur or the desk by the end of the included waiting time. If a flight is cancelled or diverted, contact the desk and the trip is moved to the new flight where possible. Changes to time or address are free where the same vehicle and chauffeur can still cover the trip; if the change moves the fare, the new fare is confirmed before it applies. Multi-vehicle programmes, coaches and armoured vehicles may carry their own terms, which are set out in the written confirmation.
Corporate invoicing and payment
Individual bookings are paid by card when you book. Companies can open a corporate account and pay on monthly invoice instead. An account adds:
- One monthly invoice across every city, with each trip itemised.
- Cost centres, project codes and purchase-order references on each trip.
- Booker and traveller profiles, so preferences and billing codes are saved.
- Duty-of-care trip data showing where travellers are and who is driving them.
- A named coordinator for programmes, roadshows, crew changes and events.
Corporate clients can also agree programme pricing for recurring work, such as a crew transportation contract or a quarterly roadshow schedule; see corporate car service and Fortune 500 and corporate travel.
Which class gives the best value for a group?
For one or two travellers with light luggage, the Standard Sedan is the lowest fare in almost every city. Once a group reaches three or more, or the bags pass two medium cases, a Standard Black SUV usually costs less than two sedans and keeps the group together. From seven passengers upward, the Sprinter Van is normally the better value per seat than two SUVs, and the Sprinter Luxury Jet Van costs more than the Sprinter Van because the cabin is fitted for work rather than for maximum seats. For celebrations, compare the Luxury Stretch Limo and the Party Bus on the hourly rate and the headcount, remembering that both carry very little luggage.
Why do fares differ between cities?
The same class costs different amounts in different cities because the cost of running a chauffeured car differs. Chauffeur wages, commercial insurance, vehicle prices and import duties, licensing, fuel and parking vary enormously. Airport distance matters too: a transfer from an airport 15 km from the centre costs less than one from an airport 60 km out. A fare in New York or London will usually sit toward the upper end of the planning ranges, while a fare in many Latin American or Southeast Asian cities will sit lower. City pages such as Toronto and Singapore describe local distances and drive times.
How to get your exact fare
Enter the pickup, destination, date, time and passengers on the reservation engine. Every available vehicle class is listed with its fixed fare, including taxes and known fees, and you can compare classes side by side before choosing. For hourly bookings, choose the hours, with a minimum of 3 within the city, and see the fare; if the trip leaves the city, the long-distance mileage appears in the same quote. For airport transfers, enter the flight number so waiting is timed to the actual landing. For programmes, coaches, Rolls-Royce and Bentley vehicles or armoured cars, contact the desk and a coordinator will confirm the fare in writing.
