BWI Marshall: concourses and the pickup curb
Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has a single terminal building with Concourses A to E. Concourse E is the international concourse, where arriving passengers clear US Customs and Border Protection before entering the main terminal. Ground transportation pickups are on the lower level (arrivals) roadway outside baggage claim, and that designated curb is where pre-arranged cars collect. Harbor East and Harbor Point to the east hold newer offices and the Four Seasons Hotel Baltimore. Fells Point, with its cobbled streets, is home to the Sagamore Pendry. Mount Vernon to the north has the Washington Monument, the Peabody Institute and boutique hotels like the Ivy. Canton and Federal Hill are residential and restaurant districts. East Baltimore is dominated by the Johns Hopkins Hospital campus, and the University of Maryland Medical Center sits on the west side of downtown; both generate steady patient and family transport. Towson to the north and Columbia to the southwest are the main suburban business centres.

Stadiums, venues and the Baltimore calendar

The Washington leg is the busiest; weekday mornings southbound and evenings northbound on I-95 and the Parkway can double the drive.
Driving in Baltimore: tunnels, tolls and the Key Bridge
Traffic keeps right. Two tolled tunnels carry traffic under the harbour: the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-95 and the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel on I-895. The Francis Scott Key Bridge on I-695 collapsed in March 2024 after a ship strike, and the Maryland Transportation Authority currently expects the replacement to open in late 2030, so traffic that once used the outer beltway now funnels through the tunnels. Maryland tolls are collected electronically through E-ZPass or by plate. North of the city, I-95 has express toll lanes toward White Marsh. Annapolis, the Naval Academy and the Eastern Shore
Annapolis is Maryland's capital and home to the US Naval Academy, and it sits about 35 to 55 minutes from downtown Baltimore or 25 to 40 minutes from BWI. Commissioning Week in late May and parent weekends in the autumn fill every hotel in the city, so families often stay in Baltimore and book a car each day. The US Sailboat Show and the US Powerboat Show on the Annapolis waterfront, usually in October, bring another wave. Beyond Annapolis, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge on US-50 leads to the Eastern Shore towns of St. Michaels and Easton and on to Ocean City. Summer Friday traffic eastbound across the bridge can add an hour, so plan departures before noon or after 7 pm.
The Baltimore-Washington business corridor
Much of Baltimore's corporate travel runs south of the city.
