BWI concourses at a glance
BWI has one terminal with five concourses, A to E. Southwest, the airport's largest airline, uses Concourses A and B. Concourse C and D host most other domestic airlines, and Concourse E is the international pier with the customs facility. Baggage claim runs along the lower level of the terminal.

Where is the BWI pickup?
The standard pickup is curbside at the zone BWI assigns to commercial and pre-arranged vehicles on the lower, arrivals level outside baggage claim. After you collect your bags, text or call the chauffeur, who will give you the door number and pull forward from the staging area. Cars cannot wait at the curb.

Waiting time rules

Train links from BWI
BWI Marshall Rail Station, a short free shuttle ride from the terminal, is on the Northeast Corridor, served by Amtrak and MARC Penn Line trains to Baltimore Penn Station and Washington Union Station. The Baltimore Light Rail also stops at the terminal. Rail works well for solo travellers heading to the centre of either city. BWI, DCA or Dulles?

Tunnels, tolls and the Key Bridge
Two toll tunnels carry traffic under Baltimore's harbor: the Fort McHenry Tunnel on I-95 and the Baltimore Harbor Tunnel on I-895. The Francis Scott Key Bridge on the outer I-695 beltway collapsed in March 2024 and is being rebuilt, so trips that used to cross it now use one of the tunnels.
Traffic toward Washington is heaviest southbound in the morning and northbound in the evening, and the Capital Beltway (I-495) is slow around the clock. The Baltimore-Washington Parkway (MD-295) does not allow commercial vehicles on its federally managed section, so Sprinters and larger vehicles use I-95 instead; the operator plans the timing accordingly. Orioles and Ravens games at Camden Yards and M&T Bank Stadium also slow traffic near the Inner Harbor.
