Business districts and corporate campuses
Mississauga is a head-office city, not a suburb in the dormitory sense. The Airport Corporate Centre on the airport's south-east side is packed with offices and airport hotels. Meadowvale and Heartland in the west host campuses for pharmaceutical, technology and logistics firms, and Sheridan Park in the south holds research labs. Gateway and the area around Highway 410 have distribution centres and manufacturing. Many travellers split a day between a Mississauga office and a client in Oakville or on Bay Street; the 403, the QEW and the 401 connect them.
City Centre, Port Credit and Streetsville
The City Centre grows around Square One, one of Canada's largest shopping centres, with Celebration Square and Mississauga's civic centre beside it and condo towers on Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario. Port Credit, on Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Credit River, has the waterfront, marinas and restaurants along Lakeshore Road. Streetsville in the north-west keeps its village main street and wedding venues. The Hazel McCallion Line light rail along Hurontario Street remains under construction, with Metrolinx pointing to about 2028 for completion, so expect lane restrictions on Hurontario until then.
Trade shows and airport hotels
The International Centre on Airport Road is one of Canada's largest exhibition venues, with multiple halls a few minutes from both terminals, and the Toronto Congress Centre is just across the border in Etobicoke. Show days bring exhibitor move-ins and heavy traffic on Airport Road and Dixon Road. Many visitors stay at the airport hotels along Dixon Road and in the Airport Corporate Centre, including the Sheraton Gateway connected to Terminal 3. Highways and the 407 ETR
Driving is on the right. The 401 through the Pearson corridor is one of the busiest highways in North America, with express and collector lanes. The 403 and the QEW run west toward Oakville and Hamilton, the 410 north to Brampton and the 427 east of the airport. Highway 407 ETR is an electronic toll road across the north of the city; there are no booths and it bills by transponder or plate camera. Details are on 407etr.com. Snow squalls from November to March and rush hours of roughly 7:00 to 9:30 and 15:30 to 18:30 are the main timing risks.
Rail and transit connections
GO Transit's Lakeshore West line stops at Port Credit and Clarkson, and the Milton line serves Cooksville, Erindale, Streetsville and Meadowvale, both running to Toronto's Union Station. The UP Express links Pearson and Union in about 25 minutes. Schedules are on GO Transit. For a traveller with luggage going to a Mississauga office, a car from the terminal is usually far quicker than a transit connection.

Departing Pearson from Mississauga
From the Airport Corporate Centre a ride to the departures level is often under ten minutes, but from Port Credit, Meadowvale or Streetsville allow 30 to 45 minutes at rush hour. As a guide, arrive at the terminal 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before a US or international one; US-bound passengers clear US preclearance at Pearson after security. Give the flight number and dispatch confirms whether your airline uses Terminal 1 or Terminal 3, so the chauffeur goes straight to the right door.
