The subway is coming, but not yet
The Yonge North Subway Extension will carry TTC Line 1 about 8 km north from Finch to Richmond Hill, with five new stations. Early works and the tunnel launch shaft were under way in 2026, and service is not expected before the end of the decade; see Metrolinx for progress. Until then, expect construction around Yonge Street near Steeles and the Richmond Hill Centre area, which the chauffeur works around.
Rail and GO

Winter, cottage traffic and the 404
Richmond Hill sits on higher ground than downtown Toronto, and the Oak Ridges Moraine often gets more snow than the lakeshore. On heavy snow mornings the chauffeur leaves earlier and keeps to the 404 and 407, which are cleared first. On summer Fridays, traffic heading north to cottage country builds on the 400 and 404 from early afternoon, and southbound returns peak on Sunday evenings, so a Sunday-night flight from Pearson needs extra margin.
