Pickup at Toronto Pearson for a Muskoka transfer
Most Muskoka trips start at Toronto Pearson, where Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 each have a designated commercial pickup area for pre-arranged cars. The chauffeur tracks your flight, arrives for the real landing time and sends the pickup location. International arrivals include 60 minutes of waiting from landing to allow for customs and baggage; domestic arrivals include 30 minutes. The route is Highway 427 or 409 to Highway 400, north past Barrie, then Highway 11 into Muskoka. Times vary with the season and the weather; the fare you booked stays fixed.
Cottage traffic: when to travel
Cottage season runs roughly from Victoria Day weekend in May to Thanksgiving in October, and Highway 400 northbound is at its worst on Friday afternoons and evenings in July and August. The southbound return is heaviest on Sunday afternoons and on the Monday of long weekends such as Canada Day, the Civic Holiday in early August and Labour Day. Leaving Pearson before 13:00 on a Friday, or after 20:00, often saves an hour. A mid-week arrival is quicker still. The chauffeur can make a short stop for groceries or the LCBO in Barrie or Bracebridge on the way; add it when you book so the time is included.
Water-access cottages, marinas and boat meets
Many Muskoka properties on Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph are reachable only by water. For these, book the transfer to the marina where your boat or water taxi waits, for example at Port Carling near the locks, at Muskoka Wharf in Gravenhurst, or at a marina in Bala, Port Sandfield or Rosseau. Enter the marina name as the drop-off and add the boat meeting time in the notes. Chauffeurs can help move luggage to the dock ramp; the boat crossing itself is arranged by you or your host.
Resorts, towns and the Big Three lakes
- Gravenhurst: the southern gateway, with Muskoka Wharf, the steamship docks and resorts such as Taboo Muskoka and Muskoka Bay.
- Bracebridge: the district town at the falls on the Muskoka River, with shops and services.
- Port Carling: the hub between Lake Muskoka and Lake Rosseau, with the locks and boat builders.

- Huntsville: on Fairy Lake and Peninsula Lake, home of Deerhurst Resort and the gateway to Algonquin Park.
Autumn colours, winter weekends and Algonquin
Fall colours usually peak from late September to early October, and the drive along Highway 60 from Huntsville into Algonquin Provincial Park, about 45 minutes east, is one of Ontario's best-known day trips. Book an hourly chauffeur for the day and the car waits at trailheads and lookouts. Which vehicle for a cottage run?
An executive SUV is the default for Muskoka: space for weekend bags, golf clubs and a cooler, and better footing on gravel cottage roads. A Standard Sedan works for one or two light travellers heading to a resort. A Standard Black SUV or Sprinter Van carries a family with luggage or a wedding party, and minicoaches move retreat groups. Rail and other options
There has been no passenger train to Muskoka since the Northlander was cancelled in 2012. Ontario Northland is restoring the service between Toronto and Timmins, with planned stops at Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville, and the return has been targeted for late 2026; check Ontario Northland for the confirmed timetable. Once it runs, a chauffeur can meet the train at any of those stations. Coaches run to the main towns, but none serves the cottage roads, which is why most visitors book a car.
Driving realities on Highways 400 and 11
Driving is on the right. Highway 400 and Highway 11 are toll-free; the only toll road near the route is Highway 407 ETR in the Greater Toronto Area, which some trips from Pearson use to avoid Highway 401 at peak times. Speed enforcement is strict, deer and moose cross after dark north of Gravenhurst, and cottage roads are often narrow, unlit gravel. The province posts road conditions on Ontario 511.

Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup at no charge. At 72 hours or less the charge is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%. A delayed flight into Pearson is tracked and does not count as a no-show.
