The airport's name and code
In 2024 the Port of Oakland, which runs the airport, adopted the name San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport. The three-letter code is still OAK, and most apps, boarding passes and road signs still read "Oakland International". OAK has its own BART station. OAK, SFO or SJC?
OAK is often the quickest Bay Area airport for the East Bay, Tri-Valley and Contra Costa County.
