BART runs from the International Terminal to downtown San Francisco, reaching Montgomery Street and Embarcadero in about 30 minutes. For the Peninsula and Silicon Valley, a short BART ride to Millbrae connects with Caltrain towards Palo Alto and San Jose. Times are on BART and Caltrain. These are good options for a solo traveller near a station; for hills, luggage, children or a campus off the rail line, a car is simpler.
