Menara airport terminals
Menara is small by international standards and very close to the city. Scheduled flights use the main terminal complex, where Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 sit side by side under the distinctive latticed roof; low-cost European carriers make up a large share of traffic, alongside Royal Air Maroc services from Casablanca and abroad. The airport is operated by ONDA. One arrivals flow makes pickups simple, but queues can be long when several European flights land together on Friday and Sunday afternoons.
Where the chauffeur meets you at RAK
Curbside pickup at the zone allocated to pre-arranged and hotel vehicles outside the arrivals exit, or in the car park opposite, is the standard service. After baggage, contact the chauffeur, who confirms where they are waiting. The chauffeur does not enter the arrivals hall by default, and you can ignore offers of taxis inside the building.
For a name-board greeting at the arrivals exit, choose meet and greet at booking. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the booking engine shows whether the add-on is available at Menara for your arrival.
Immigration and customs at Menara
Many nationalities enter Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days; others must obtain a visa in advance. Passport control at Menara usually takes 20 to 50 minutes, and peak-season weekend afternoons from March to May and September to November can exceed an hour. Bags take 15 to 30 minutes. Drones are generally prohibited without prior authorisation and are often held at customs.
International flights include 60 minutes of free waiting from actual landing and domestic flights 30 minutes. Because the flight is tracked, a delay does not cut into the allowance; after it, waiting is billed in 15-minute blocks.
Getting to a riad in the Medina
Most of the Medina's alleys are too narrow for cars, so no vehicle can drive to the door of a typical riad. The chauffeur takes you to the closest vehicle access point, such as Bab Doukkala, Bab Laksour, Bab Ksiba or the car park near the Koutoubia, and from there it is a walk of 2 to 15 minutes. Many riads send a staff member or a porter with a hand cart to meet the car; ask your riad to arrange this and add the meeting point to the booking notes. Hotels in Hivernage, Gueliz and the Palmeraie have normal road access to the entrance.

Morocco drives on the right. Traffic inside the city is slow around the Medina walls in the evenings, particularly near Jemaa el-Fnaa.
Hivernage, Gueliz and the Palmeraie
Outside the Medina walls, Marrakech is easy to reach by car. Hivernage, between the airport and the Medina, holds large hotels, the Palais des Congrès and the city's nightlife. Gueliz is the French-era new town with galleries, cafés, shops and the railway station, close to the Majorelle Garden. The Palmeraie, north-east of the city, is a vast palm grove dotted with resorts, golf courses and private villas, many behind gated drives. Further out, the Route de l'Ourika and Route d'Amizmiz hold estate hotels with mountain views. All of these have road access to reception, so the chauffeur can drop you at the door.
Rail and road alternatives
There is no rail link to Menara. Marrakech railway station in Gueliz, 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, has ONCF trains to Casablanca in about 2 hours 40 minutes and on to Rabat and Tangier; timetables are on the ONCF site, and a high-speed extension towards Marrakech is under construction. The city bus serves the airport. For riad arrivals, where the meeting point and a porter must be coordinated, a pre-booked car is by far the easiest option.

Destination weddings, incentives and events
Marrakech hosts a large number of destination weddings, incentive trips and conferences, often at Palmeraie estates and Hivernage hotels. Guest shuttles, multi-vehicle arrivals and evening transfers are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing through wedding limousine and group transportation. Events usually cluster in spring and autumn, when temperatures are milder; July and August can exceed 40 degrees Celsius.
Day trips from Marrakech
The Atlas foothills, the Ourika Valley, Imlil and Essaouira on the Atlantic are all popular day trips. Use city tours and day trips or hourly chauffeur service, minimum three hours, and see the Visit Morocco tourism site for ideas. The road over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Ouarzazate is long and winding, and snow can close it in winter.
