The port and its piers
Prince George Wharf sits at the foot of downtown Nassau, beside Bay Street and Rawson Square. The wharf was rebuilt and reopened by Nassau Cruise Port in stages from 2023, with a new terminal building and a waterfront park, and it can berth several large ships at once. Where the pre-arranged car meets you
Taxis and tour operators queue in the ground transportation area the port sets aside outside the terminal, and pre-booked cars are directed to the pickup point the port allows at the time. Leave the ship, pass through the terminal building to the street side and message the driver, who will describe the exact spot. On busy days with five or six ships, allow a few extra minutes for the crowd.

Ship to airport and flights home
For passengers ending a voyage in Nassau, book the pickup for your disembarkation time and allow 25 to 40 minutes to the airport. US-bound flights clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection preclearance at Lynden Pindling before boarding, so the airport needs more time than a typical departure; a flight after about 13:00 is a sensible minimum. Joining a ship in Nassau
Fly in the day before if you can. Add your flight number to the booking: the driver is timed to the actual landing, and waiting is included for 60 minutes on international arrivals. Standard pickup is at the airport's designated area for pre-arranged cars; a name-board meet inside arrivals is an add-on available in selected locations only. At the wharf, porters take checked cases at the terminal.
Documents, money and timing ashore
Cruise visitors go ashore with the ID their line requires; anyone flying in or out needs a valid passport. The Bahamian dollar is pegged one to one with the US dollar, and US notes are accepted almost everywhere, so there is no need to change money for a day ashore. Ships usually arrive in the morning and leave in the late afternoon or evening. Downtown and the Paradise Island beaches are busiest around midday, so an early start on a private tour gets you to the forts and the Queen's Staircase before the crowds. Hurricane season runs from June to November, and weather can change a ship's schedule at short notice.
Private tours on a port day
A 3-hour minimum hourly booking is the usual way to see New Providence at your own pace. Common routes:
- Downtown heritage: the Queen's Staircase, Fort Fincastle and the Water Tower, then Parliament Square.
- Paradise Island and the harbour views from the bridges, with time at a beach.
- The western shore: Cable Beach, Love Beach and Clifton Heritage National Park.
- A rum distillery and the Graycliff area in old Nassau.
The driver tracks all-aboard and brings you back with a margin, but you remain responsible for being on the ship.

Fare and cancellation terms
Each fare includes the vehicle, the driver and the included waiting: 15 minutes at the pier from the booked time, then 15-minute blocks. Cancel more than 72 hours ahead with no charge. Inside 72 hours the fee is 10%, inside 48 hours 50%, and inside 24 hours or for a no-show 100%. How fares are set is on rates.
