The new Jorge Chavez terminal
Lima's airport moved into a new passenger terminal on 1 June 2025, built on the west side of the airfield and roughly three times the size of the old building, which has closed. Access is now exclusively via Avenida Morales Duarez, rather than the historic Avenida Faucett entrance. Road links are still being completed, and the new access has added roughly 15 to 30 minutes to many trips compared with the old terminal. All domestic and international flights use the new building, which is operated by Lima Airport Partners.
Where your chauffeur meets you
The standard pickup is at the new terminal's designated area for pre-arranged vehicles, outside the arrivals level. Authorised taxis and app rides have separate zones. Once through customs, contact the chauffeur using the number in your confirmation; they guide you to the car waiting outside. A name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall is the meet and greet add-on, which many first-time visitors to the new terminal find useful. Add-ons are only available in selected locations.
Immigration and customs timing
Peru's Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones checks passports, with automated gates for some nationalities, then baggage passes through SUNAT customs scanners. Many nationalities enter Peru visa-free for tourism. Long-haul flights from North America and Europe often arrive late at night or early in the morning; allow 30 to 60 minutes from gate to curb. Waiting is included for 60 minutes after actual landing on international flights and 30 minutes on domestic flights, and billed in 15-minute blocks beyond that. How long is the drive from LIM to Miraflores?
The airport is in Callao, north-west of the city centre. The usual route to the southern districts follows the Costa Verde coastal road or the Via Expresa; routes to the new terminal all start on Avenida Morales Duarez.

Lima's traffic is among the heaviest in the region. Late-night arrivals are quickest; weekday peaks from 7:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00 are slowest.
Rail and public transport
There is no rail link to the airport today. Metro Line 2 is under construction toward the airport area, but it does not yet serve the terminal, so check its status before relying on it. Airport buses and taxis are available, but for Miraflores or San Isidro with bags a pre-booked car is the usual choice.
Connecting to Cusco and Machu Picchu
Many visitors land in Lima and connect to Cusco for Machu Picchu. If you have a same-day connection, stay airside. If you overnight in Lima, a hotel near the airport shortens the morning trip back, and our fixed fare covers the return. For an overnight in Miraflores, allow at least 90 minutes of driving buffer for an early flight.

What is included in the fare
The fixed fare includes the vehicle, the chauffeur and the included waiting. Jorge Chavez access charges and gratuity for a Lima chauffeur are added to the booking at actual cost. Child seats are free on request. Cancellation: more than 72 hours before pickup is free, 72 hours or less costs 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%.
Weather and busy seasons
Lima rarely sees rain, but the winter garua mist from June to October can reduce visibility and occasionally delay flights. Peak travel runs through July and August (the northern summer and Peru's Fiestas Patrias on 28 and 29 July) and from December to March. Mistura and other food events draw extra visitors in some years.

Where business visitors stay in Lima
San Isidro, with the Centro Empresarial and Avenida Camino Real, is the financial district and home to many embassies and corporate offices. Miraflores holds most international hotels along the Malecon, and Barranco has boutique hotels, galleries and restaurants. Mining, energy and fishing executives often split their days between San Isidro offices and suppliers in Surco or La Molina. For a full working day, hourly chauffeur hire with a 3-hour minimum keeps one car and one chauffeur with you, which in Lima's traffic is often faster than calling separate cars.
Late-night arrivals
A large share of long-haul flights into Lima land between 22:00 and 6:00. The roads are much quicker at those hours, often 35 to 50 minutes to Miraflores, and a pre-booked car with the operator named in advance avoids arranging transport at the curb in the middle of the night. The chauffeur's timing follows the actual landing, so a flight that arrives early is covered.
