The O'Hare 21 programme is rebuilding the airport around a new Global Terminal on the site of Terminal 2 and new satellite concourses. Walkways and door numbers change as work progresses, which is why the chauffeur confirms the exact meeting point by text after you land.
Where does the chauffeur meet you at O'Hare?
Our standard service is curbside pickup at the area O'Hare assigns to pre-arranged and livery vehicles on the lower arrivals level of your terminal. At Terminal 5, the arrivals curb sits directly outside the customs exit. At Terminals 1 to 3 the chauffeur names the door number, which is printed above every exit. In deep winter, wait inside until the chauffeur tells you the car is at the kerb.

Customs and immigration timing at Terminal 5
Most long-haul arrivals clear US Customs and Border Protection at Terminal 5. Allow 30 to 60 minutes on a normal day and up to 90 minutes when the European evening bank lands together. CBP Global Entry kiosks and Mobile Passport Control shorten the wait for eligible travellers. Your 60 minutes of free waiting starts at actual touchdown, so a long immigration line is usually covered. Passengers arriving on a flight pre-cleared in Canada, Ireland or the Middle East land as domestic passengers, often at Terminals 1 or 3.
Drive times from O'Hare into Chicago
O'Hare sits 17 miles northwest of the Loop, joined to the city by I-190 and the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/94). Typical weekday ranges:
- The Loop and West Loop: 35 to 75 minutes on the Kennedy.
- River North, the Gold Coast and Streeterville: 35 to 70 minutes.
- McCormick Place: 40 to 80 minutes via the Kennedy and the Dan Ryan or Lake Shore Drive.
- Rosemont and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center: 5 to 10 minutes.
- Schaumburg and Oak Brook: 20 to 40 minutes via I-90 or I-294.
- Evanston and the North Shore: 30 to 55 minutes.
- Chicago Midway: 40 to 70 minutes.
The Kennedy's reversible express lanes help inbound traffic in the morning and outbound in the evening. The I-294 Tri-State Tollway and I-90 Jane Addams Tollway carry electronic tolls.
Is the CTA Blue Line a good alternative?
The CTA Blue Line runs 24 hours from the O'Hare station, under the Terminal 1 to 3 parking garage, to the Loop in about 40 to 45 minutes, and it does not sit in traffic. Metra's North Central Service stops at O'Hare Transfer station, reached by the ATS, but runs on a limited weekday schedule. See the CTA for times. The train suits a solo traveller with a carry-on heading to a hotel near a Loop station; a car is the better call with luggage, colleagues, a snowstorm or a late-night landing. The fixed fare and cancellation terms
Your fare includes the vehicle, a professional chauffeur, flight tracking and the included waiting time. Chicago airport fees, garage parking and gratuity sit outside the fare and are added to the booking at actual cost. Planning ranges by class are published on rates. Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup at no charge; at 72 hours or less the fee is 10%, at 48 hours or less 50%, and at 24 hours or less or for a no-show 100%.
Conventions, corporate travel and crews
McCormick Place hosts some of the largest trade shows in North America, and O'Hare is where most delegates arrive. Getting to O'Hare for a departure
Leave the Loop at least 75 minutes before you want to be at the terminal on a weekday afternoon, and allow extra time in snow, when the Kennedy can slow to a crawl. Tell us which terminal you are flying from, because Terminal 5 is on the far side of the airport road network from Terminals 1 to 3 and the approach is different. The chauffeur drops you on the upper departures level at your airline's door. For an early-morning flight after a late dinner in River North, a 4:30 am pickup usually reaches O'Hare in 30 minutes.

Weather and O'Hare arrivals
Chicago weather drives more O'Hare delays than anything else: lake-effect snow and freezing rain from December to March, and fast-moving thunderstorms from June to August. De-icing can hold aircraft on the ground after landing, and snowplough convoys slow the airport road. None of this changes the fare or the included wait, which starts only when your aircraft actually lands. In a heavy snowfall, an SUV is the calmer ride into the city.
