One station name, several stations
Locals call the area Meieki. Under that name sit several stations joined by concourses:
- JR Nagoya: the Tōkaidō Shinkansen between Tokyo and Osaka, plus JR Central limited expresses such as the Shinano to Nagano, the Hida to Takayama and the Nanki towards Kumano.
- Meitetsu Nagoya: Nagoya Railroad trains, including the μSky limited express to Chubu Centrair airport in about 30 minutes.
- Kintetsu Nagoya: trains to Ise-Shima and Osaka Namba.
- Nagoya Municipal Subway: the Higashiyama and Sakura-dōri lines.
- Aonami Line: to Kinjō-futō, the SCMaglev and Railway Park and Port Messe Nagoya.
The station also houses JR Central's headquarters, and the JR Central Towers and JR Gate Tower rise directly above it.
Taikō-dōri or Sakura-dōri?
The Taikō-dōri exit (west) is on the Shinkansen side; it faces the Noritake area and the road towards the Nagoya Expressway, with a taxi pool and pick-up areas. The Sakura-dōri exit (east) is the main city side, opening onto the plaza in front of the towers, with Midland Square, the Meitetsu and Kintetsu stations, the main taxi ranks and the road to Sakae. Pre-booked cars at Meieki use designated areas on each side. The walk between them through the central concourse takes a few minutes, longer with bags, so we tell you the side and meeting point by message before your train arrives.
How the chauffeur meets you
For Nagoya Station pickups, the standard service is curbside at the designated pick-up area. The chauffeur does not come through the ticket gates or onto the platforms by default. A concourse meet at the gates is an add-on, and add-ons are only available in selected locations; the reservation engine shows if it applies. See meet and greet.
The booking is linked to your train, so the chauffeur is timed to the actual arrival; if heavy rain slows the Shinkansen near Sekigahara, the pickup follows. For Nagoya Station pickups, included waiting is 15 minutes from the real arrival, then 15-minute blocks.
Luggage
Nagoya Station is large but well signposted, with lifts from every platform. Oversized bags (over 160 cm in total dimensions) need a reserved oversized-baggage seat on the Tōkaidō Shinkansen. Two passengers with full-size cases fit a Luxury Executive Sedan. Engineers and trade-show teams with equipment cases should choose a Standard Black SUV (six passengers, six bags) or a Sprinter Van (12 passengers, 12 small bags).

Business travel and venues
Nagoya is the capital of Japan's automotive and aerospace industry. Visitors to Toyota and its suppliers typically head east to Toyota City or Kariya, and aerospace teams to plants around Komaki and the Chita Peninsula. In the city, Sakae and Fushimi are the office and shopping districts. Hotels include the Nagoya Marriott Associa in the JR Central Towers, directly above the station, and the Nagoya Prince Hotel Sky Tower at Global Gate, a short drive south. Intercity alternatives by car
Several of central Japan's best destinations are awkward by rail. Ghibli Park in Nagakute is about 35 to 45 minutes; Inuyama Castle 40 to 50 minutes; Gifu about 40 minutes; Suzuka Circuit about an hour; Ise Grand Shrine about 1 h 45 (roughly 120 km); Takayama and Shirakawa-go around 2 h 15 to 2 h 30.
