About L.F. Wade International Airport
BDA sits on St David's Island in the parish of St George's, at the eastern end of the island chain, joined to the main island by the Causeway. A new passenger terminal opened in December 2020, replacing the old building, and is operated by Skyport under an agreement with the Government of Bermuda. Arrival formalities and how long they take
Arriving passengers clear Bermuda immigration and customs in the new terminal. Most flights are from the US east coast, Canada and London, and they tend to arrive in distinct waves rather than all at once, so 20 to 40 minutes from landing to the exit is typical. Have your return ticket and accommodation address ready.

Rail, buses and ferries
Bermuda's railway closed in 1948 and its route is now the Railway Trail, a walking and cycling path. There is no rail link to the airport. Public buses serve the island, and the government ferry network links Hamilton, the Dockyard and other points across the sound, which can be a pleasant way to reach the West End once you have dropped your bags. Getting back to BDA
Bermuda's departures follow the same waves as arrivals, with a cluster of flights to US east coast cities around midday and flights to London in the evening. Allow two to three hours before US departures because of preclearance, and around two hours for Canada and the UK. From Hamilton that means leaving about three to three and a half hours before a US flight; from Southampton or the Dockyard, add another half hour.
