The Edinburgh Airport terminal
Edinburgh Airport, about 13 km west of the city centre at Ingliston, is Scotland's busiest airport and has a single terminal building. Arrivals for UK domestic, European and long-haul flights all come out into one arrivals area, and the tram stop and bus stances are directly outside. Easyjet, Ryanair, Jet2 and British Airways run the largest operations, alongside transatlantic and Gulf services. Information and maps are on the official Edinburgh Airport site.
Where the chauffeur meets you at EDI
Pickup is curbside at the airport's designated area for pre-booked and commercial vehicles. When you have your luggage, call or message the chauffeur, who will be waiting nearby and will guide you to the exact spot. The chauffeur does not come into the terminal on a standard booking.
To be met at the arrivals exit with a name board, add meet and greet. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the booker confirms whether it is available at EDI for your date. Golfers arriving for a first visit to Scotland often add it.
UK border and the Electronic Travel Authorisation
Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, so arrivals from outside the UK pass UK Border Force, and the EU Entry/Exit System does not apply here. eGates are open to many passport holders, including British, EU, US, Canadian and Australian adults. Visitors who do not need a UK visa now generally need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travelling; the rules are on GOV.UK. Flights from London and other UK airports arrive as domestic, with no passport check. Allow 15 to 35 minutes from landing to the kerb on an international arrival.

Traffic drives on the left. The route north to Fife, Gleneagles and St Andrews crosses the Firth of Forth on the Queensferry Crossing, a few minutes from the airport. Edinburgh's city-centre Low Emission Zone has been enforced since June 2024, and affiliate vehicles are four model years old or newer; details are on Low Emission Zones Scotland.
Trams and trains
Edinburgh Trams run from outside the terminal to Haymarket, Princes Street, York Place and on to Leith and Newhaven, reaching the city centre in about 30 to 35 minutes. The Airlink bus also serves Waverley. There is no railway station at the terminal; Edinburgh Gateway station, one tram stop away, links to trains for Fife and the north. A chauffeur is the easier choice with golf bags and suitcases, on cobbled Old Town streets, for a late arrival or for any destination outside the city. If you are joining a train, a car to Edinburgh Waverley takes 25 to 40 minutes.

Festivals, golf and finance
August is Edinburgh's peak: the Edinburgh International Festival, the Festival Fringe and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo run through most of the month, with road closures in the Old Town and heavy demand for cars; book early. Hogmanay on 31 December and Six Nations rugby at Murrayfield, usually in February and March, bring further peaks. Golf travel to St Andrews, Muirfield, Carnoustie and Gleneagles is year-round, and groups can use group transportation. Golf, whisky and Highland programmes
Many EDI arrivals are the start of a longer programme: a week of golf across St Andrews, Carnoustie, Kingsbarns and Muirfield, a distillery tour in Speyside, or a drive north through Perthshire to Inverness and the Highlands. These can be booked day by day as hourly hire, or as a multi-day itinerary planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing, with the vehicle, daily start times and drop-off points agreed in advance. A Standard Black SUV takes four golfers with clubs and suitcases; a Sprinter Van suits a larger group. Scottish roads beyond the motorways are often single carriageway, and in the Highlands some are single track with passing places, so journey times are longer than distances suggest: Edinburgh to Speyside is about three hours, and Edinburgh to Skye nearer five. Summer days are long, with daylight past 22:00 in June, which suits late rounds, but winter daylight is short and weather can close high passes.
Delays, waiting and cancellation
If the flight is late, the chauffeur follows the tracked arrival time and the delay is not charged. Extra waiting beyond the included period is added in 15-minute blocks. Free cancellation applies until 72 hours before pickup. Within 72 hours the fee is 10%, within 48 hours 50%, and within 24 hours or on a no-show 100%.
Glasgow and other airports
