Glasgow Airport (GLA): terminal and pickup

Glasgow Airport sits at Abbotsinch near Paisley, about 8 miles west of the city centre by the M8. It has one terminal building for domestic, European and long-haul flights. Your chauffeur meets you at the airport's designated pick-up area for pre-booked cars, a short-stay zone beside the terminal, and sends the vehicle details and exact location when you land. A meet and greet in the arrivals hall with a name board is an add-on; add-ons are only available in selected locations. Flights are tracked, so pickup timing follows the real landing. Included waiting is 30 minutes on UK domestic flights, 60 minutes on international arrivals (including Ireland and Europe, where passport control adds time), and 15 minutes elsewhere, then 15-minute blocks.

Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) and private aviation

Prestwick is in Ayrshire, about 32 miles southwest of Glasgow on the M77 and A77, typically 40 to 55 minutes by car. It handles low-cost scheduled flights, cargo, military traffic and a steady flow of business jets and transatlantic technical stops, which makes it a common arrival point for private flyers heading to the Ayrshire golf courses at Troon and Turnberry. The Low Emission Zone and driving in the city

Glasgow's Low Emission Zone covers the city centre, broadly the area inside the M8 loop north of the River Clyde, and has applied to all vehicles since June 2023. Non-compliant vehicles face a penalty charge that rises with repeat entries. The BlaakLane.com standard means every car we send meets the zone rules (diesel Euro 6, petrol Euro 4 or better, or electric), so there is no restriction on where we can collect or drop you. Traffic drives on the left. The M8 runs straight through the centre, and the Kingston Bridge is the pinch point in both rush hours. The Clyde Tunnel and the Clyde Arc are the usual alternatives for the Southside and Pacific Quay. Much of Buchanan Street, Sauchiehall Street and Argyle Street is pedestrianised, so hotel and office pickups often use a side street; your chauffeur confirms the spot by message.

Neighbourhoods and business districts

• City centre and Merchant City: George Square, the City Chambers, the retail streets and the restaurants of the old merchants' quarter.
• International Financial Services District: the Broomielaw and Atlantic Quay along the north bank of the Clyde, home to banks, insurers and professional-services offices.

• Pacific Quay: the Glasgow Science Centre and broadcast studios on the south bank.
• Southside: Shawlands, Pollok Country Park and the Burrell Collection.

The SEC, stadiums and the event calendar

The Scottish Event Campus at Finnieston combines the SEC Centre exhibition halls, the SEC Armadillo auditorium and the OVO Hydro arena, one of the busiest concert venues in Europe. On a sold-out night, the road outside is closed to general traffic after the show, so we agree a pickup point a short walk away. Glasgow also has three large football grounds: Hampden Park, Scotland's national stadium, Celtic Park in the east end and Ibrox on the south side. Glasgow Central and Queen Street stations

Glasgow Central is the terminus of the West Coast Main Line from London Euston (about 4.5 to 5 hours by train) and the station for Ayrshire and the Southside. Queen Street, a few minutes' walk away, runs the fast trains to Edinburgh Waverley (about 50 minutes) and services to Stirling, Perth and the Highlands. Arriving from abroad

Many visitors to the UK now need an Electronic Travel Authorisation before travel; check the rules on GOV.UK. International arrivals at GLA clear UK Border Force passport control and customs in the terminal, which is why the 60-minute included wait applies. Child seats are free on request.
