Colleges, porters' lodges and where cars can stop
Central Oxford is compact and heavily restricted. Cornmarket and parts of Queen Street are pedestrianised, Broad Street has limited access, and several routes use bus gates or traffic filters that private hire vehicles cannot always pass. The county council also runs a zero emission zone pilot in the centre, where non-zero-emission vehicles pay a daily charge during its operating hours. Oxford station, on the west side of the centre next to the Saïd Business School, has fast trains to London Paddington in about an hour and CrossCountry services to Birmingham and the north.
