Terminal 1 or Terminal 2: which one will you land at?
Prague splits arrivals by passport area rather than by airline alliance. Terminal 1 handles flights to and from outside the Schengen area, such as the UK, Ireland, the Middle East, North America and Asia. Terminal 2 handles Schengen flights, which covers most of continental Europe. Terminal 3, a separate building in the south-east of the airfield, serves private and general aviation.

Terminals 1 and 2 share one landside front connected by a walkway, so the pickup zone for pre-arranged cars is close to both.
Where the chauffeur waits at PRG
Curbside pickup at the zone the airport designates for pre-booked and contract transport is the standard service. After you collect your luggage and pass customs, contact the chauffeur, who will tell you which exit and which bay to walk to, usually a few minutes on foot from the arrivals hall. The chauffeur is not standing in the hall on a standard booking.
If you want someone waiting at the arrivals exit with your name, add meet and greet when booking. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the engine confirms availability for your arrival.
Border control, EES and customs timing
Czech border police run passport control in Terminal 1. Non-EU passengers entering the Schengen area are registered in the EU Entry/Exit System, which records fingerprints and a facial image on the first entry; kiosks and staffed desks both operate. On a busy evening with several long-haul arrivals, allow 30 to 60 minutes from landing to the car. In Terminal 2 most passengers are out in 15 to 25 minutes.
ETIAS has not launched yet, so there is nothing to apply for in advance under that scheme. Current entry rules are summarised on the EU travel portal.
How long is the drive from Prague Airport?
Václav Havel Airport is about 17 km west of the historic centre. Drive times depend heavily on the time of day, because the main approach runs through Dejvice and along the Evropská corridor.
- Old Town and Wenceslas Square: 25 to 40 minutes.
- Malá Strana and Prague Castle: 20 to 35 minutes.
- Karlín (offices along Rohanské nábřeží): 30 to 45 minutes.
- Pankrác and the Prague Congress Centre: 30 to 45 minutes via the city ring road.
- Smíchov and Anděl: 25 to 35 minutes.
- The Park and Chodov business parks: 30 to 40 minutes on the Prague ring.
Onward routes from PRG by road
Prague sits in the middle of Central Europe, so many travellers go straight on. Typical road times are Karlovy Vary 1 h 30 to 2 h, Dresden 1 h 45 to 2 h 15, Brno 2 h 15 to 2 h 45, Vienna about 3 h 30 to 4 h, and Budapest around 5 h 30 to 6 h 30. Book these as intercity transfers; the Czech motorways need a vignette.
Public transport alternatives at Prague Airport
There is no railway to the airport yet; a rail link is planned but not open. The public options are buses. The Airport Express (AE) bus runs to Praha hlavní nádraží, the main railway station, in around 35 to 45 minutes. City bus 119 connects to Nádraží Veleslavín on metro line A in about 15 minutes, and bus 100 runs to Zličín on line B. Timetables and tickets are on the Prague Integrated Transport site.
A bus is cheap for one traveller with a small bag. A car is simpler with suitcases, with children, late at night, or when a business meeting starts soon after landing.

Driving realities in central Prague
Much of the Old Town and Malá Strana is pedestrianised or restricted, with cobbles, trams and narrow one-way streets. Some hotels can only be reached to a point near the entrance; your chauffeur drops you as close as the rules allow and helps with bags. The Czech Republic drives on the right, and trams have priority in many junctions, which is why cross-town times vary more than distances suggest.
