Where is the Cape Town Cruise Terminal?
The Cape Town Cruise Terminal is on E-Berth in the Duncan Dock side of the port, within the V&A Waterfront precinct, with Table Mountain behind it. It opened in its current form in 2019 inside a converted port building and is designed for large ships, with check-in, customs and baggage halls under one roof. The commercial port is managed by Transnet National Ports Authority. Smaller expedition and luxury ships sometimes berth at other quays in the Waterfront basins; your documents say which.
Who sails from Cape Town, and when?
The season is the southern summer, roughly November to April. MSC Cruises bases a ship in South Africa for local coastal cruises in that period, while Silversea, Oceania, Viking, Seabourn, Regent Seven Seas and world-cruise itineraries from other lines call or turn around here. Some expedition ships begin voyages to the southern islands and Antarctica from Cape Town.
Sailing day at the terminal
The chauffeur enters the Waterfront by the port road, drives to the terminal forecourt and stops in the private-vehicle drop-off. Porters take tagged suitcases. Arrive at the start of your check-in window: from the Atlantic Seaboard (Camps Bay, Bantry Bay) the drive is 15-25 minutes, from the City Bowl 10 minutes, and from Stellenbosch or Franschhoek 45-75 minutes.
Disembarkation: the ground transportation area
When the cruise ends in Cape Town, passengers clear South African immigration and customs in the terminal, then walk out to the ground transportation area where taxis, coaches and pre-arranged cars wait. That is where your chauffeur will be. Ships dock early, and guests leave in groups through the morning. Set the pickup for your group time plus 30-45 minutes. The booking includes 15 minutes of waiting; beyond that, waiting is charged in 15-minute blocks.

Hotels near the ship and further afield
Inside the Waterfront, the One&Only, the Silo Hotel above the Zeitz MOCAA gallery and the Table Bay Hotel are a few minutes from the terminal. The Belmond Mount Nelson in the Gardens district is 10-15 minutes away, and Camps Bay and Clifton hotels 20-25 minutes. Many passengers add two or three nights in the winelands; a transfer from Franschhoek is a simple point-to-point booking.

Driving notes for Cape Town
South Africa drives on the left. The N2 from the airport is the main approach and slows in the weekday peaks. Wind, especially the south-easter in summer, can close the Table Mountain cableway and affect ship arrival times, so keep your chauffeur's number handy. Chapman's Peak Drive charges a toll.
