The airfield
Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport lies in the city of Opa-locka, about 15 miles north of downtown Miami. It belongs to Miami-Dade County and is run by the county's aviation department, which also operates Miami International; the department's site is miami-airport.com. OPF has no scheduled airlines. It serves business jets, cargo and government aircraft, and for travellers heading to the northern beaches, Aventura or the stadium, it is closer than MIA. The airport's background is on Wikipedia.
Signature and Fontainebleau Aviation
Signature Aviation and Fontainebleau Aviation operate FBOs at Opa-locka. Fontainebleau Aviation carries the name of the Miami Beach resort brand, but it is a separate aviation facility on the airfield. We list both as places so the chauffeur goes to the correct gate; neither is a BlaakLane.com partner, and each sets its own rules on where cars wait.
From the FBO door or from the aircraft?
By default the chauffeur waits at the FBO's front entrance, in the area the FBO assigns to chauffeured cars. Meeting the aircraft on the ramp is possible only when the FBO and the aircraft operator both approve ramp access for that particular driver and vehicle. Some days the answer is yes, on busy event weekends it is often no. We ask on your behalf and confirm what was granted, but we do not guarantee it.
International arrivals and customs at OPF
Opa-locka handles many arrivals from Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Every international arrival must clear U.S. Customs and Border Protection, with manifests filed before departure. Ask your FBO or flight department about CBP availability and typical clearance times for your arrival hour, and whether an earlier stop is needed. Passengers and crew handle passports and declarations themselves; the chauffeur waits outside the process and is told by the FBO when you are free to go. Art Basel, the Grand Prix and the winter season
OPF is busiest in the winter months and around big events. Art Basel Miami Beach usually takes over the first week of December, the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix is usually held in May at Hard Rock Stadium, a short drive from the FBOs, and football season fills the stadium through the autumn. On those dates, book early and book the return at the same time. Group programmes with several vehicles for a gallery tour or a race suite are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing. Which vehicle for an OPF arrival?
- Two passengers to a Brickell hotel: Luxury Executive Sedan or Executive First Class Sedan (Maybach), two bags each.
- A family with suitcases to a Bal Harbour condo: Executive Black SUV or Standard Black SUV, six passengers and six bags.
- A full charter to one villa or yacht marina: Sprinter Van, 12 passengers and 12 small bags.
- Race-day guests with no luggage: Sprinter Luxury Jet Van, 7 passengers, carry-on only, or a Party Bus for 14 on the way to the stadium.

Miami's humidity and summer storms are part of every arrival from June to October; a short walk from the FBO door to the car helps, and flight tracking handles the delays storms cause. For golf trips to Doral or the clubs in the north, one SUV takes two golf bags with luggage. Fishing rods, dive gear and yacht provisions need the sizes in the booking notes.

What does the OPF fare include?
The fixed fare covers the car and chauffeur for your route and does not change with causeway traffic. Included waiting is 60 minutes from arrival for international flights and 30 for domestic ones, then 15-minute blocks. Child seats are free on request.
