The four terminals at FLL
Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood has four terminals in a horseshoe around a central parking garage, connected landside by a loop road and, in several places, by walkways.
- Terminal 1 serves Southwest and several other carriers, including some international flights.
- Terminal 2 is used mainly by Delta and Air Canada.

Cruise transfers to Port Everglades
On a Saturday or Sunday turnaround, several large ships can share the port, and thousands of passengers move between the airport and the terminals within a few hours. Rail options near the airport
FLL has no train station inside the terminals. The Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport station on Tri-Rail, the regional commuter line between Miami and West Palm Beach, sits a short free shuttle ride from the terminals. Brightline's intercity trains stop at a station in downtown Fort Lauderdale, not at the airport, and run to Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando. Both suit light travellers; for cruise luggage or beach hotels, a car is quicker door to door.

Leaving from FLL
For departures, a beach hotel or Las Olas pickup two hours before a domestic flight and two and a half to three hours before an international one is usual; FLL's security checkpoints are compact and can back up during spring break and the winter holidays. From Port Everglades on disembarkation morning, the drive is short, but queues to leave the port can take longer than the drive itself. Driving realities in Broward County
I-95 is the spine of South Florida and is congested for long stretches on weekday mornings and evenings, particularly southbound towards Miami. The express lanes use variable tolls. Drawbridges across the Intracoastal Waterway open on schedules for boat traffic, which can add minutes to trips to beach hotels on A1A. Summer afternoons often bring short, heavy thunderstorms between June and September, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November; if a storm affects flights, the flight tracking moves the pickup with your new arrival time.
