What is the Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre?
CXH is the floating seaplane terminal on the Coal Harbour waterfront, just west of Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre, at the foot of the downtown towers. Harbour Air Seaplanes is the principal operator, with scheduled floatplane services to Victoria's Inner Harbour, Nanaimo, the Sunshine Coast and other coastal communities, plus charters and sightseeing flights. Private and charter floatplanes use the same docks.
The harbour itself is managed by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, and the airspace and water aerodrome are regulated by Transport Canada. Harbour Air's current schedules and baggage rules are on harbourair.com.
Why the pickup is at the terminal door
A floatplane ties up at a floating dock, and passengers walk up the gangway into the terminal. There is no ramp for vehicles, so the chauffeur waits at the terminal's street-side entrance on the Coal Harbour waterfront, near the Convention Centre West building. For passengers with limited mobility, tell us in advance; the terminal and the flight operator decide what assistance is possible on the docks, and we pass the request on, but we cannot promise vehicle access beyond the public drop-off area.
Customs on seaplane arrivals
Most flights into CXH are domestic, from Victoria, Nanaimo and the coast, so no customs is involved. Any cross-border seaplane arrival must report to the Canada Border Services Agency, and the operator tells passengers where and how clearance works for that flight. Included waiting runs from the actual arrival: 30 minutes for domestic flights and 60 minutes for flights from outside Canada, then 15-minute blocks. Floatplanes are weather-dependent, and fog or wind can delay or cancel departures; because we track the flight, a delay simply moves the pickup.

Downtown streets near Canada Place are congested on cruise-ship days and during conventions. West Georgia Street and the Lions Gate Bridge slow at rush hour. Winter tyres are required on the Sea-to-Sky Highway from 1 October to 31 March; check DriveBC before a Whistler run.
Floatplane to jet: connecting at YVR
A common itinerary is a morning floatplane from Victoria to CXH, meetings downtown, then an evening flight from Vancouver International. Book the harbour pickup and the YVR drop-off as one hourly booking (three-hour minimum) or as two transfers. Light bags, light cars
Floatplanes carry strict weight limits for bags, so most harbour passengers travel light. A Standard Sedan or Luxury Executive Sedan is usually enough for two travellers with carry-on bags. A Standard Black SUV or Executive Black SUV takes six passengers with six bags, which suits families or anyone with golf clubs collected downtown. The Sprinter Luxury Jet Van seats seven and takes carry-on only, which matches floatplane luggage well for a business team. A Sprinter Van seats 12 with 12 small bags for tour groups.

Discretion on the waterfront
The terminal is in full view of the seawall and busy hotel entrances. On request, the chauffeur waits a short distance away and meets you by phone, no name board is used, and the booking can show initials only. Corporate travellers can hold profiles and trip data in a corporate account.
Busy days
Cruise days at Canada Place from April to October, large conventions next door and summer sightseeing flights make the waterfront crowded. The Celebration of Light fireworks in late July and early August close streets around English Bay. Book early on those dates.
Fare and cancellation
The fare covers the vehicle, the chauffeur and the route to the address you gave. Hourly service has a three-hour minimum. Planning ranges are on the rates page. If plans change, cancelling more than 72 hours before pickup is free; 72 hours or less costs 10%, 48 hours or less 50%, and 24 hours or less or a no-show 100%.
