The airport and its two terminals
Bali's airport is in Tuban, on the narrow neck of land between Kuta and Jimbaran, with the runway reaching out into the sea. It has two terminals next to each other.

The two buildings are close, but arrivals exits are separate. The flight number tells us which one to use, including on domestic connections through Jakarta.
Where does the driver meet me at Bali airport?
The standard service is pickup at the area the airport designates for pre-arranged transport, just outside the arrivals exit and along the approach to the parking area, where hotel, villa and private drivers meet guests. When you are through customs, message the chauffeur, who replies with the exact spot. At Ngurah Rai the chauffeur stays outside the building unless you add a greeting.
An in-hall greeting with a name board is available as meet and greet where the airport allows it. Add-ons are only available in selected locations, and the booking engine shows whether it can be added for your flight.
Arrival formalities: visa, levy and customs
Most visitors need a visa on arrival or an e-visa, which can be arranged in advance on the Indonesian immigration e-visa portal to shorten the queue. Since 2024 foreign tourists entering Bali also pay a provincial tourist levy, which can be paid online through the official Love Bali portal before travel. Indonesia uses an electronic customs declaration completed before or on arrival. When several flights from Australia, Singapore and the Middle East land together, allow 45 to 90 minutes from landing to the exit. Waiting is included for 60 minutes from actual landing, then billed in 15-minute blocks.
Drive times from DPS to Bali's main areas
Bali's roads are narrow and busy, and a short distance can take a long time, especially between late afternoon and early evening. The Bali Mandara toll road over the bay is the quick route to Nusa Dua, Benoa and Sanur's southern end.

Bali drives on the left. The Bali Mandara toll road crosses the water between the airport, Nusa Dua and Benoa. During Nyepi, the Balinese Day of Silence (usually in March), the airport and roads close for 24 hours, and no transfers run; plan arrivals around it.
Why there is no rail option
Bali has no railway. Public buses serve only a few routes, and taxis and app-based cars have restrictions at the airport. For most visitors a pre-booked car is the most reliable way to a villa, especially after a long-haul flight or with young children.
Picking a vehicle for Bali roads
Bigger is not always better here. A Standard Black SUV reaches almost any villa, while a stretch limo may not be able to turn into a narrow lane. The engine only shows classes an affiliate can supply.

Weddings, retreats and villa groups
Bali is one of Asia's busiest destination-wedding and retreat locations. Multi-vehicle arrivals for a wedding weekend, yoga retreat or incentive trip are planned by a coordinator and confirmed in writing; see wedding transportation and group transportation. For touring, a city tours and day trips booking or an hourly booking (minimum 3 hours) covers rice terraces, temples and waterfalls with a driver who waits.
What the fare includes, and cancellations
The fixed fare covers the vehicle, the driver, flight tracking and the included waiting: 60 minutes after an international landing, 30 minutes after a domestic one. Late arrivals, surfboards and villa check-in
Many long-haul flights reach Bali late in the evening, and villas often close their reception at night. Add the villa manager's number and any key-box instructions to the booking notes, and the chauffeur can call ahead from the road. Surfboard bags, golf bags and dive gear need space: a Standard Black SUV takes two or three board bags inside, while a sedan cannot. Honeymoons and resort arrivals in Nusa Dua and Uluwatu
The resorts of Nusa Dua and the Bukit peninsula are among the easiest places in Bali to reach from the airport, thanks to the toll road and wide resort driveways. That makes them the natural choice for a Luxury Executive Sedan or an Executive Black SUV after a long flight. Resort security gates check arriving cars, so the guest's name and reservation number in the notes speed up the entry.
Day trips from your villa
Once settled, many guests keep the same driver for a day in the highlands: the Tegallalang rice terraces and Ubud's palace and market, the lake temple at Bedugul, or the sea temples of Tanah Lot and Uluwatu at sunset. Distances look small on the map but take hours on Bali's roads, so a day with a waiting driver is far easier than a string of short rides. Book it as an hourly booking with a 3-hour minimum, or as a full day through the touring service.
