The airport at Frankton
Queenstown Airport lies at Frankton, about 8 km east of the town centre, framed by The Remarkables range and Lake Wakatipu. It is run by Queenstown Airport Corporation. A single terminal handles:
- Domestic flights from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
- International flights across the Tasman from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, with New Zealand customs and biosecurity on arrival.

There is no rail in Queenstown. Public buses run by the regional council connect the airport with Frankton, the town centre and Arrowtown, and ski-field shuttles leave from town in winter. Seasons and events
The ski season on Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona usually runs from mid-June to early October, and the town's Winter Festival is usually held in late June.
