Providenciales International Airport (PLS)
PLS is the country's main international gateway, in the middle of Providenciales. After immigration and customs, standard pickup is at the designated pre-arranged pickup area outside arrivals; the chauffeur messages the car details as you walk out. Grace Bay is about 5 miles from the terminal. The island is compact, but the Leeward Highway and its roundabouts slow at school and work hours.
Grace Bay, Long Bay and the villa areas
Grace Bay's resorts line one continuous beach on the north shore, from The Bight to Leeward. Long Bay on the south-east is quieter and popular with kitesurfers and villa renters. Chalk Sound's hillside villas look over a turquoise lagoon and are reached by a narrow, winding road, where an executive SUV is easier than a van. Villas often have gates and shared driveways; add the villa name and any gate code to your booking.
Marinas and the outer islands
Parrot Cay and Pine Cay are private islands reached by boat from Providenciales; the resorts' own boats usually leave from the Leeward area. Ferries to North Caicos leave from the Leeward side, a crossing of about 30 minutes, and a causeway links North Caicos to Middle Caicos. We drop you at the dock and collect you on the way back. Airline crews, flights and timing
Nonstop flights reach PLS from several US gateways and from Toronto, which is why most arrivals come in a cluster from late morning to late afternoon, especially on weekends. The return trip is where timing matters: allow for check-in, security and the departure queues at PLS, which can be long in high season. The chauffeur is booked for a fixed time and the fare is fixed with it, so a pickup at the villa about three hours before an international departure is a sensible plan. The Turks and Caicos cruise pier is at the Grand Turk Cruise Center on Grand Turk, a separate island about 30 minutes by air from Providenciales. Travellers joining a villa stay after a cruise usually fly to PLS; tell us the flight and we meet it.
Vehicle choice
Families usually book an executive SUV. A Standard Black SUV or Sprinter carries two families, a wedding group or a golf party in one trip. Couples choose a business or Luxury Executive Sedan. Driving side and road notes
Turks and Caicos drives on the left, but many cars on the island are left-hand-drive imports from the US, so drivers sit on the kerb side. Roundabouts on the Leeward Highway are taken clockwise. The official currency is the US dollar.
Weddings and events
Beach weddings are common on Grace Bay and Long Bay, and guests often stay across several resorts. The high season runs from mid-December to April.

Providenciales has no public bus network worth planning around, and taxis are called rather than hailed.
