Booking a Copenhagen cruise transfer

The Baltic season runs mainly from April to October. Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, MSC Cruises, Celebrity, Princess, Holland America, AIDA and Viking all sail from or call at Copenhagen, and on a peak Saturday several ships turn around at Oceankaj at once.
Embarkation: arriving at Oceankaj
The three Oceankaj terminals sit side by side on the reclaimed land of Nordhavn. Pre-arranged cars use the drop-off lanes in front of each building, and porters take tagged luggage at the kerb. From hotels at Tivoli, Nyhavn or Kongens Nytorv, allow 15-25 minutes. The terminals have little else around them, so arrive at the start of your check-in window rather than early; boarding closes about two hours before sailing.
Disembarkation: meeting your chauffeur
On disembarkation morning, the chauffeur waits in the ground transportation area outside your terminal, the zone reserved for pre-arranged vehicles and taxis. Make contact once you have your luggage. If you want a name-board welcome at the exit, add meet and greet when booking; add-ons are only available in selected locations. Book the pickup for your group time plus 30-45 minutes, since 15 minutes of waiting are included and extra time runs in 15-minute blocks.
Airport-to-ship and ship-to-airport
Copenhagen Airport at Kastrup is only about 15 km from Oceankaj. The chauffeur tracks your flight and waits 60 minutes from the actual landing on international arrivals, 30 minutes on domestic flights, at the airport's designated pickup area. Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 share one arrivals area. Allow at least two and a half hours between the ship's arrival and a European flight, and three and a half for long-haul. Some passengers fly into Malmö or combine the cruise with Sweden. The Øresund Bridge carries cars from Kastrup to Malmö in about 25-35 minutes.
Pre- and post-cruise nights in Copenhagen
Copenhagen is compact: hotels at Kongens Nytorv (Hotel d'Angleterre), by Tivoli (Nimb) or near the waterfront at Nyhavn are all 15-25 minutes from the quays. Nordhavn itself has newer hotels a few minutes from Oceankaj. With a night on each side of the cruise, you have time for the canals, Rosenborg and the Design Museum. Port-day private tours
An hourly chauffeur, minimum three hours, gives you the city sights by car and on foot: Amalienborg, Nyhavn, the Little Mermaid and Christiansborg. Longer days head north along the Øresund coast to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art at Humlebæk (35-40 minutes) and Kronborg Castle at Helsingør (45-50 minutes), or inland to Frederiksborg Castle at Hillerød (about 40 minutes). Fare, inclusions and cancellation
The fixed fare covers the vehicle, chauffeur, taxes and the waiting allowances above. Cancelling more than three days (72 hours) ahead is free; 72 hours or less costs 10 % of the fare, 48 hours or less half of it, and 24 hours or less or a no-show the whole fare. See rates. Rail and road notes
Denmark drives on the right. DSB trains link the airport and Copenhagen Central Station in about 15 minutes, useful if you travel light, but Oceankaj is not on a rail line. Cyclists are everywhere in Copenhagen; chauffeurs allow extra time at turns across the cycle lanes. Travellers continuing to Stockholm or Oslo can book those cities separately.
Luggage and timing on Baltic turnaround days
Baltic cruises are often long, and passengers pack for changeable weather, so luggage volumes are high. List every case in the booking, and move up a class if the numbers are close: an Executive Black SUV carries six guests and six bags, a Sprinter Van twelve. On turnaround Saturdays, Nordhavn's roads carry several ships' worth of taxis and coaches at once. A pickup booked for your disembarkation group time plus 30-45 minutes usually meets a free kerb and avoids extra waiting blocks.
