About the Abu Dhabi Cruise Terminal
The cruise terminal is at Zayed Port (Mina Zayed), on the north-eastern edge of Abu Dhabi island, close to the Mina fish and dates markets and about 10 minutes from the Corniche. It is run by AD Ports Group and has a permanent terminal building with check-in halls, baggage areas and forecourts for coaches, taxis and private cars. Ships that cannot fit at the main berths use adjacent quays in the same port.
Abu Dhabi is used as both a call and a turnaround port on Arabian Gulf winter itineraries, from about November to April. MSC Cruises, Costa, AIDA, TUI Cruises, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are among the lines that have sailed from or called at Zayed Port, and some itineraries also stop at Sir Bani Yas island to the west.
Embarkation drop-off at the terminal
The chauffeur passes the port gate, drives to the terminal forecourt and stops in the lane for private vehicles. Porters collect tagged luggage. Check-in windows are printed on your boarding documents; arrive near the start. From Saadiyat or Al Maryah Island, allow 15-20 minutes; from Yas Island, 30-35 minutes; from the Emirates Palace area, about 15 minutes.
Disembarkation: where to find the car
On the last morning, pre-arranged cars wait in the ground transportation area outside the terminal's arrivals exit. Your chauffeur waits there, not inside. Guests leave in groups from early morning; set the pickup for your group time plus 30 minutes. Fifteen minutes of waiting from the booked time are part of the fare, then 15-minute blocks.
Call or text when you are through with your bags. A name board at the exit is the meet and greet add-on, offered in selected locations.
Airport transfers to and from the ship
Abu Dhabi's main airport is Zayed International, where most flights now use the large Terminal A. Many cruise passengers instead fly into Dubai, because of the wider choice of flights, and make the 90-minute drive down the E11.

Airport pickups are flight-tracked, with 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing. Private aircraft arrive at the Al Bateen business aviation airport, close to the city centre. Where to stay before or after sailing
Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental and the Etihad Towers are on the western Corniche, 15 minutes from the port. The St. Regis and Park Hyatt on Saadiyat sit near the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and the Ritz-Carlton Grand Canal and Shangri-La face the mosque. Yas Island hotels suit families planning a theme-park day. Book the hotel leg as a point-to-point trip or fold it into an hourly booking.
Port-day touring in Abu Dhabi
With an hourly chauffeur, three hours minimum, a ship's day in port can include:
- Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. Free timed entry; shoulders and knees covered, and headscarves for women.
- Qasr Al Watan. The presidential palace, open to visitors, with its library and gardens.
- Saadiyat Cultural District. The Louvre Abu Dhabi and, as they open, the district's other museums.
- Yas Island. Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World and Yas Marina Circuit.

Road tolls and local driving
Abu Dhabi's Darb toll gates operate at peak hours on the main bridges onto the island, and trips to Dubai pass the Salik gates there. The emirate enforces strict speed limits with frequent cameras, and summer daytime heat above 40 °C makes a car waiting close to the exit more than a comfort.

What the fare covers and cancellation
The fixed fare includes the vehicle, the chauffeur, VAT and the waiting allowance, and child seats are free on request. Cancel more than 72 hours before pickup at no cost.
