An airport built for business aviation
Al Bateen was Abu Dhabi's original international airport. When airline traffic moved to the main airport on the mainland, Al Bateen was turned into a dedicated executive airport for business jets, government flights and VIP movements. It sits on Abu Dhabi island itself, next to the ADNEC exhibition centre and a short drive from the Corniche, which makes it one of the most conveniently placed business aviation airports in the Gulf. Pickup outside the terminal, and the ramp
The chauffeur waits at the terminal entrance. Ground staff move your bags from the aircraft. Grand Prix, IDEX and other busy weeks
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at Yas Marina Circuit is usually held in late November or early December and is the single busiest week for private aviation in the emirate. IDEX, the defence exhibition at ADNEC, is held in February of odd-numbered years, and ADIPEC, the energy conference, usually in November. On those dates, book early, and expect road closures and security checks near the venues.

Abu Dhabi cancellations are free more than 72 hours before pickup, then 10% at 72 hours or less, 50% at 48 hours or less, and 100% at 24 hours or less or for a no-show. Leaving Abu Dhabi from Al Bateen
For departures, book the pickup at your hotel, palace or office and add the tail number and the planned departure time. Because the airport sits on the island, a pickup on the Corniche 30 to 40 minutes before your handler's reporting time is usually enough outside peak hours. The chauffeur drops you at the executive terminal entrance. On Fridays, traffic patterns change around midday prayers, and during Ramadan the evening rush comes later than usual, so allow a little extra time on those days.
