Europe's highest airport
Engadin Airport, at Samedan, lies at about 1,700 metres in the flat floor of the Upper Engadine, around 5 kilometres from St. Moritz. It is the highest airport in Europe, and its single runway is flanked by mountains on both sides. Jets use it, but crews need specific training and performance planning for the altitude and the valley approach, and the airport sets its own opening hours.
